im 18, i was going to be a gypsy, but i decided that i want to be something more cute then sexy. my first ideas were angel, teddy bear, princess... but i dont know... any good ideas???
i think everyone is a little confused... i dont want to look hot or sexy. cute. like adorable and cuddly""..... ya know.. you all have great answers so far... just a little too sexy for what im looking for.

andre1 answers:

This is kinda hard because costumes are now more sexy than anything... But how about being a victorian lady, or an indian princess? Its a little different than normal princesses... I personally like to get inspiration from movies and shows and books i like. Just put your own spin on it.

Or if you have a different idea for a costume (pics included would be great) I would appreciate that :)

andre1 answers:

I'd definitely go for the Alice in Wonderland costume.
It stands out a lot more than the others in my opinion and I think the way you look in general would make it look even more convincing and suit you to a tee.

Maria asks…

Time for a change....(costume questions)?

So, my boyfriend and I, for the past 6 years have been attending our local renaissance fair, as well as costume parties dressed as pirates. The costumes are nice, leather and other material. All in all, I think we spent about $1600 on them (we pieced them together over the years). However, it's time for some change. The boyfriend got a black leather kilt and is switching into a "dark" celt type costume.

I'm not really sure that I want to coordinate with it, so I am asking for some opinions. I'm a pale blonde, so I like darker colors vs. light. My current costume consists of a black leather corset with a red celtic knot on the front and shoulders. A red under dress with a black skirt under the dress. I have a red and black leather hat with tons of feathers. So here are a few of my ideas for the next costume, just tell me which you like, or make a suggestion. Thanks in advance!

1.) Gypsy garb: Halter with cross lacings that criss cross over the back and stomach to tie around waiste. With long skirt, coin belt and ankle bells. Colors in black and red. (tribal style)

2:) Gypsy Garb - Black half corset (wears like a bra), with sheer dark purple under shirt that has split bell sleeves, a chiffon emerald green and dark purple over skirt with a black harem pants underneath. Hip scarf and ankle bells.

3.) Irish garb - a black bodice with a black split front skirt, with a white under dress
Just a tid bit. We are not going for acurracy when it comes to the period clothing. We save that for when we participate in the SCA and nailing your time period is key. The ren-faire in essence is fantasy. Make believe.

andre1 answers:

If you're going for historical accuracy, black is a color reserved for nobles. It was very expensive to dye fabric black in the Renaissance and only the very wealthy could afford it.

I'm a sucker for a corset, so of your options I'd say #2.

Bridget Moynahan Strikes Back, Dating Joseph"McG" McGinty Nichol

Flash backfour years: Patriots quarterback Tom Brady dumped model/actress Bridget Moynahan for Victoria's Secret model Gisele BAndchen, and the story got even juicier when the media discovered Bridget was pregnant with her ex's baby. The public responded with an outpour of sympathy for the former Sex and the City and Coyote Ugly star, especially after the birth of Tom and Gisele's baby in late 2009.

Shortly after the incident became front page tabloid fodder, Bridget confessed to Harper's Bazaar: "When you're suddenly pregnant and no one is standing by your side, even if you're in your 30s, it's a hard conversation. I'm a traditional girl, and I believe in marriage, and I just always thought that's the way I'd be doing this."

But now Bridget has achieved her own quiet revenge. Reportedly, she's been getting serious with a new man, Hollywood director and producer Joseph "McG" McGinty Nichol. His directing work includes the movies Charlie's Angels, Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle, We Are Marshall, and the upcoming film starring Reese Witherspoon This Means War. McG also holds the title of executive producer for television shows such as The O.C., Sorority Fever, and the recently premiered drama named after its seductive main character, an assassin and spy named Nikita.

Aside from snagging a powerful Hollywood hunk, Bridget has met success by landing a few recent acting gigs. Her latest acting stint was a leading role in the upcoming flick Battle: Los Angeles, in which a Marine fights against a L.A. alien invasion. The film is scheduled for release on March 11, 2011. The brunette beauty currently plays Erin Reagan-Boyle in Blue Bloods, arecently premiered TV show about a family of New York cops. Bridget also appeared last summer as the mother of Ramona Quimby in Ramona and Beezus, a movie based on Beverly Cleary's well-known children's book series.

Bridget originally kept a low profile after her highly publicized breakup with the NFL star, but recently she has been pretty open about her blossoming relationship with McG. She cheered on her man from the sidelines at Costa Mesa Wood Racquet Classic, a California-based charity tennis tournament in which the director participated. Reportedly, the couple has also been traveling across the country to visit each other on their various television and film sets.

A source told Life & Style Weekly that McG and Bridget "have been dating for a few months. She's filming the show Blue Bloods in NYC, and he's based in LA, but they fly back and forth." Another insider confirmed to People.com that Bridget and McG are indeed an item and commented, "They're really happy."

Bridget's child by Toma"John "Jack" Moynahana"is now three. Tom and Gisele married in 2009, and their son Benjamin Brady is nownine months old.

using my black leotard?

I want to make a simple, sexy costume for Halloween this year. Any good ideas for homemade costumes? I have long brown hair.

I have a black leotard I was thinking I could use, but I'm not sure how. I don't want to do the usual cat or bunny thing by adding just a tail and ears to the leotard, I would rather do something more fun... maybe turn it into a pirate or gypsy?? I don't know I just need an idea because its almost Halloween!!

U cud be a burglar!!! Or ballerina/fitness instructor. Or you could just draw a big exclamation point or some other punctuation on it and go as a ! Or a , or something.

What should I be for Halloween?

Halloween's in a couple of weeks and I have no idea what to be. I'm a 15 year old girl, and looking for a homemade costume (: for example, a gypsy, a hippie, a hogwarts student, etc, but a lot of girls are being those. basically anything that i can use to accessorize with that i already have. So idk what to be! Help? (:

I am not sure what kind of accessories you have. You could go as a High School Horror prom queen without needing to buy anything! Check out the following site for an example!

Not many girls would be brave enough to really shock every one with a costume like this!

William asks…

I need to know if a gypsy is the best halloween costume for a christian 11 year old.?

andre1 answers:

^ The person who said that Halloween is the day of the devil...pfft. It WAS the day of the devil.
Do you know why people dressed up as scary creatures for Halloween? It was to disguise themselves from 'evil spirits'. Well, we all know now that spirits and ghosts don't exist. Now, traditions are long gone, and Halloween in today's society is about dressing up, having fun, and CANDY. Woot! :-D

Go ahead, be a gypsy. As long as it isn't revealing or whatever, you should be alright. But in my opinion, wouldn't a gypsy costume be too bulky, what with all the long skirts and jewellery and stuff. You'll probably sweat loads in the costume, if you're living in a warm climate. But anyway, your choice. !

Mark asks…

Donald asks…

Halloween costume for halloween.?

So my daughter needs a costume she's 9 years old, but she's really mature she's been giving me ideas like a gypsy, or a zombie school girl. What do you think she should be?

andre1 answers:

Whatever she wants. I think a gypsy's cute.

Lisa asks…

Cute and original halloween costume for a 14 year girl?

I know it's (kind of) early, and this is the adolescent section. i though you guys could help =)

so I need a costume for trick or treating and maybe halloween parties :)

It needs to be kind of warm, it's going to be cold out! brrrrrr..... =)
And I don't want one of those costumes from a store, too expensive and unoriginal.

Ideas I had:
superhero
clown
mouse
pirate
firefighter
hippie ?
gypsy

I would find a way to make it cute but not sl*tty, like wear a skirt with the firefighter costume...

so any ideas? (sorry its long! )

andre1 answers:

Well, I'm going to a , and I'm around you're age, and I'm being this angel bunny thing where I'm wearing angel wings and bunny ears and a dress and I'm using that spray stuff to make my hair pink.
I got the idea because of Victoria's Secret Angels and Playboy Bunnies, but minus the sluttiness (and the being pretty part haha.)

I like the gypsy idea a lot though (for you, I mean, of course.) You could wear some cheap costume gypsy earrings and a wrap around hat type thing. You could braid your hair in tight braids the night before, or crimp your hair (if you have a crimper) and your hair would be all textured and big, like a gypsy's. You could wear big loose pants, and one of the things you tie around your waist and it makes noise when you walk.

Maria asks…

What should I be for Halloween?

It seems a bit too last minute, but I'm going trick-or-treating with my friend but I don't know what to be!
I'm 13, I will 14 next month
Now I don't wanna spend a lot of money on a costume, I want to make it with stuff around my house. My mom was like "Go as a gypsy" but I don't wanna be that, I was thinking about an Anime School Girl, but what would I need that I can find around my house
can you suggest a costume a 13/14 year old would wear, and give me some different costumes instead of your "witch" or "vampire" just make it a little more all out. Also, if you have any ideas for the anime school girl costume, add them in, I would appreciate it.
Thanks : D

andre1 answers:

My ideas:

Gothic Fairy:
Tutu (from claire's or hottopic),
Tshirt or long sleeve shirt.
Flats
wings (optional)
gothic makeup.

SchoolGirl:
Plaid skirt
white dress shirt
tie
leggings or knee high socks
flats
hair: pony tail or pigtails

Nerd:
Glasses(hottopics or claire's)
suspender (hottopics or claire's)
skinny jeans
tshirt
sneakers.

Rest:
pop star
80's girl
little
bumble bee
dorothy

(p.s. You can get these^ at party city).

*These are all i have...im gonna be a gothic fairy lol.*

Hey. Im going to a and im going to be a gypsy. What accesories, shoes makeup should i get/wear? How should i do my hair? I have long brownish/black hair. Should i use glitter and such? And should i get a petticoat to wear under?

Heres what my costume looks like

andre1 answers:

For makeup do it pretty dramatic and bold colors that go along with your costume. Than you could string little bells in your hair so that when you move your hair makes noise and it be little things of silver so it would look really pretty. I don't think a petticoat is a good idea since it might make it look too thick. If you get what I am saying. You could also put some glitter in your hair to make it pretty looking.
and Happy Halloween!!

Crafty people: Halloween costume for a child help (details inside)?

My 10 year old wants a gypsy costume, which I will put together without a sewing machine. I'm buying a heavy fabric for the skirt that needs no hemming. I'll wrap it and pin the side securely. The picture here is just an example of what It will look like with a wrap sash. I'll make a belt type corset. I have in my mind how to do this, with maybe a few stitches by hand (i've done it before).

My problem, I can't find a childs peasant shirt at a bargain price, and I can't make one. Any ideas how to make an easy shirt for this, or what to wear instead of buying something new?

Helen asks…

What can a 14 year old girl be for halloween, on a budget?

I have about $20 to spend on my costume this year. I don't want to buy an entire costume online, in case it doesn't fit when I get it.
And the costumes in the halloween superstores are usually very expensive.
I was thinking of being a:
-fairy
-devil (my friend was going to be an angel)
-pirate
-gypsy
-cleopatra

Please tell me which one is the easiest to DIY and how I can make it myself.
Thanks!

andre1 answers:

Ooh gypsy is easy.

Find clothes that aren't modern and neon.
Get a long skirt that is flowy with a variety of colors.
Use a white (or whatever color) dress shirt (like what is wore under a suit), tie it loose. Wear a simple cami underneath.
Wear gladiator styled shoes, preferably worn.
Find a good head-scarf that matches the skirt, or you can just cut it out from old clothing.

Curl random pieces of your hair, then brush it out and braid some of the front loosely. Then you could pin braids around your head, or to the back of your head.

For accessories:
-tons of jewelry. Vintage style, or costume jewelry.
-flowers, you can put them in your hair.
-scarfs, wear some. On your head, around your neck, around your arms.
-LAYERS, layer anything that looks good.

http://www.gypsydreamscats.com/db2/00150/gypsydreamscats.com/_uimages/GypsyBonaire.jpg

money tips:
first, raid your closet.
Second, raid your mom's and sister's closet. Oh and dad's closet too!
Third, raid your grandma's closet. There will be vintage stuff in there, obviously!
Fourth, go to a thirft shop!
Fifth, go to target! Go to a dept. Store! YAY CLEARANCE RACKS.

Find key pieces:
1- skirt
2- scarves
3- jewelry
4- shirt and shoes

remember, gypsy's didn't wear like one layered, matchy matchy outfits!

Carol asks…

How can I get a costume without my mom knowing?

My mom thinks Halloween is an evil holiday and won't let me do anything for it. My dad is totally okay with it, but won't get a costume. I'll be wearing it to Costume Day at school, and then the Halloween dance, and that night for either trick-or-treating or a party of some sort. I was really wanting to be a gypsy, but I don't have anything to make one with. Please help?? And yes, I've been talking to my mom for all of my fourteen years trying to convince her that it isn't evil, just for fun, but she won't listen. Thanks!!

andre1 answers:

Hahah well usually when i go shopping my mom never knowes what i buy.. Soo what you should do is call a friend ask them if they want to go shopping ( just any normall mall) and then you go. You mom would defenetly be okay with driving you there. Once your their you look at all the stores and by things you thik would go good with your costume. By them. And thats it. Then your mom takes you home and you have a costume. Im sure you would be able to wear a different pair of clothes to school then change to your jypsey costumee wans you get there....

But if your worried about your mom asking what you bought have your freind carry the bag orr just put your stuff in one of your frineds bags and say your holding it for her... And just show a different item you bought to your mom... Manyy ways you could do it. Just make sure she doesnt see it!!

GOOD LUCKK!!

Planning a Halloween party and need help?

I want to have a really cool Halloween party this year, and I really want to plan ahead, and I had some ideas about different things to do. I was really kind of inspired by a medieval faire my school had and I thought that I should include:

A Fortune Teller or Gypsy (Not sure where to get supplies for that, and I'm not sure how to do the room for a Fortune Teller or Gypsy)

A place for making potions (I was really interested in trying this, but I don't know how to do potion making without making a big mess. I really need help on this one!)

Having a costume contest.

Playing party games with a Halloween twist.

Showing the second Harry Potter movie.

I wasn't sure what else to do, since the first and only time I had a Halloween party it was not much fun. Ideas for decor, music, entertainment, food, and favors are welcome. Thank you if you can help!

andre1 answers:

Well, I have plenty of tips to help you.

Fortune Teller or Gypsy (Not sure where to get supplies for that, and I'm not sure how to do the room for a Fortune Teller or Gypsy)

We had a Halloween festival at my school during school and there was a teacher dressed as a fortune teller. Before we left the classrooms for the festivities, the teachers of our classes gave us plastic gold coins and told us to use these to "pay" to visit the Fortune Teller. We were able to earn the coins, candy, and miniature dollar store prizes from the games, so we could come back several times and visit the fortune teller again if we gave her another coin. Really fun and clever. My cousin's school medieval fair had a Fortune Teller as well. But they used a slip of paper with a picture of a chicken on it to symbolize that they were trading a chicken for their fortune! It was clever and fit into the medieval theme well. Perhaps you could have the coin idea or make slips of paper with a halloween symbol on it, or perhaps you could request for them to give you (or whoever the fortune teller is) a piece of candy, though you won't have many visitors because most want to keep their Halloween candy.

If you can, I'd suggest making the room dark for the fortune teller. Have candles for the light, and use colored light bulbs (blue, red, or green) and focus that light on the fortune teller. Have choices for the guests who visit the fortune teller. Have them ask to have their fortunes told through a , have the fortune teller "sell" for a few gold coins a good luck charm for them after she gives them their fortune (if you can cut it), or ask for their palm to be read. Make up zany fortunes, they don't have to be real. Just don't wish bad luck on someone you don't like, because that is just not nice. Anyway, you're trying to be a fortune teller, not a fortune bully! I found a good link for a crystal ball, and you can have it in any color. Http://www.crystalcompany.com/crystal-balls.html

The smallest ones are only $18 - $19, we don't need something big! If you want something inexpensive, go to the toy section of a store and for $3 - $4 you can buy a smokey bouncy ball that you could use. A small candle or light next to the ball would be cool too. As soon as you'd like the fortune to end, you could blow out the candle or turn off the light. I'd recommend the light, because it will be easier to use. Have some Aladdin style music or just creepy music playing in the fortune teller's room. This is all I could think of with that.

A place for making potions (I was really interested in trying this, but I don't know how to do potion making without making a big mess. I really need help on this one!)

Why not just use drink mixes and water? Have all the guests come to the kitchen table and have them all decide on what they'd like in the potion. Just make sure to put the drink mixes in containers and label them as powdered potion ingredients. Once everything is mixed, add some food grade dry ice to the cauldron, and tell the guests it must bubble and smoke until it is ready. If one persists on having a drink before the bubbling ends, tell them there will be an awful side effect if they drink it before it is finished!

Showing the second Harry Potter movie.

Show more than just Harry Potter. Get Disney's The Legend of Sleepy Hollow cartoon short and play it. Monster House and the Nightmare Before Christmas, and Halloweentown (1 and 2) are some great movies for a Halloween party. Pick only one movie and play Sleepy Hollow to go with it. If you want a movie everyone is sure to like, Harry Potter will be your best choice, because it's 2 hours long, and that and Sleepy Hollow will pretty much be your whole party length!

Ideas for decor, music, entertainment, food, and favors

Just put up whatever Halloween decorations you like. Whatever Halloween items you have in your garage will be perfectly fine. For music, get songs like "Monster Mash", "Love Potion #9", "Purple People Eater", "The Addams Family theme", "This is Halloween" (from Nightmare Before Xmas), "Witchdoctor", and any other you can find. Play them throughout the party. Have several games run by grown-ups, so that there will be plenty to do. For food, Pillsbury makes these ready to bake Halloween cookies. Popcorn balls and rice krispie treats are other Halloween staples. A pizza is also a good idea. Think of other foods you could give Halloween twists to. As for favors, buy the favor bags from the Halloween store, and fill them with candy and Halloween toys. The dollar store will have what you need.

This is all I could think of and type, good luck!

Halloween Coordination Problem?

So my aunt gave me a really cool gypsy costume for halloween but my boyfriend wants to cordinate with me so what could he be? We are also debating wether to be a cowboy and a cowgirl since it would be easy with such little time left til halloween. But i feel like my aunt would be really mad or upset if i didnt use her costume... What should i do? Any ideas?

andre1 answers:

You can come up with something for him that goes with the gypsy. For example, you could say you're a genie instead of a gypsy (they look pretty similar) and he could be a male genie. 2 genies. Or he could be Darren from I Dream of Jeannie, and then you'd obv be Jeannie. He just needs a short sleeved collared shirt and a pair of slacks. Or he could dress in regular clothes, carry your genie lamp around, and just be "a lucky guy." People would be like, "What do you mean?" then he could point over to you.

Charles asks…

If I'm gonna dress as a Gypsy, what should my boyfriend dress as? (Halloween)?

Ok well I bought this real cute Gypsy costume:

http://www.halloweenmart.com/media/core/LG83671_CRYSTAL_BALL_GYPSY.jpg

My boyfriend and I want to do a "couples" thing for Halloween but I don't know what would go good with my costume. I've tried looking for male Gypsy costumes and they don't sell them anywhere. Can someone give me an example of what a male Gypsy would dress like? Maybe I can pull a costume together at home.

He doesn't HAVE to be a Gypsy so if anyone knows any good ideas that would at least go with the theme of my costume, let me know (:

andre1 answers:

Downgraded pirate, (ruffle shirt, vest, baggy pants, skullcap), that could apss up as a gypsie) for oldtime gypsie.
Modernday, straight black pants with cloth as a belt, white shirt, black vest, black hat.

If you would like, you could go wench instead and boyfriend to go as a pirate, as wench does not differ much from a gypsie.

Richard asks…
