Gypsy Halloween Costume?

I want to be either Esmeralda from The Hunchback of Notre Dam. (Because I'm tan and have dark hair.)
For the skirt, I was planning to try to find some purple fabric and go to a lady to make it into a skirt. But for the sash, where can I buy or get those dangling hanging from her sash? And How many skirts would I have to wear? And I don't know where to get the blouse or the corset?

Or is there any other character that's brown skin/brown hair and tan to match me?
I would like to make my own costume, so therefore I'm trying to figure it out NOW.

I looked up a picture of Esmerelda, and you would only need one skirt. The coins fringe can be found at Joann's I believe, and can simply be added to the sash. And you could try to see if you could find a corset at maybe party city or ask the lady to make you a simple corset.

Also, the only other character that comes to mind with similar coloring is Jasmine. I don't know if this costume would be hard for you to make, or if you would like to buy one, because I saw one at Party City's website, BUT it is expensive. If I play the violin while trick or treating as a gypsy, will I get more candy?

For Halloween, I am going to be a gypsy (real gypsy clothes, not the cheap walmart costume)! Layered skirts, lacy top, long black curly hair, heavy eye makeup and false lashes, etc. If I play some gypsy songs on my violin, do you think it will go well with the costume, and as a result get more candy?

It's a great idea, but I doubt that it will get you more candy. Most adults I know try to be fair and give every kid that comes to the door the same amount.

If you have a good violin, don't take it out in the elements that way. That's not how you treat an instrument.

Girls, if you are having trouble coming up with a Halloween costume, I will give you a little tip: All you need is a basic . Add heels, silver jewelry, and dark make-up and you are a goth girl. Add scarves, bangles, and dangling earrings and you are a gypsy. Add cat ears and draw whiskers on your face and you are a cat. Add wings and a wand and you are a midnight fairy.

So if you need a last minute Halloween costume idea just think: Little black dress. :)

Is it wrong to enjoy pleasuring my BF in a skirt?

.. and is it wrong for my B to enjoy it? I particularly like it if he is handcuffed or something.
I ended up doing this to my BF to teach him a lesson after making out with 2 girls at a costume party. He was dressed as a gypsy girl and I got him home, handcuffed him (as part of a promise of bedrrom fun) took his boxers and then gave him a hand job on the porch and locked him out once he messed his/my skirt.
He confessed afterwards to enjoying the hand job through the skirt as the petticoat bouncing around his legs and bottom turned him on. I wanted to domp him but now I find I want to do it again as it turned me on as well.
Is this wrong?

This strange little event seems to have hurt no one else, and was done in privacy. I don't think "right" or "wrong" is an issue here.

You two certainly have some interesting turn-ons... But "turn-ons" by nature are normally a PLUS for any relationship... So, do whatever... But keep respect for each other... And others... A priority.

P.S., make sure he's not stretching out or ripping those cute little skirts! :D

1. Don't like this one. The colors are very pretty but the shredded look makes it ugly.
*2. One of the best. You can do so much things with this costume. Add more stuff you have on your home. Make it more gypsy-esque. This is very sexy too, go for it!
3. No...it's too simple.
4. Too much pink...
5. This costume is OK, but lots of girls wear it. So if you are going to a party be prepared to meet lots of bee girls. But if you are trick or treating then maybe you won't find as many bees around.
6. Kinda like this one. But the dress is so simple. You could even make something similar yourself and add a lot of colorful accessories. Not worth the money, in my opinion.
7. Sexy, you could wear it with converse boots and kill it. It's a nice choice.
8. The same thing I said with the other bee costume, but this one looks much better. More yellow and pretty.
9. Nooo, too simple!
*10. This one I like too. But only because of the skirt. It looks really pretty. The top could be better, but imagine this costume with really beautiful blue-pink eyeshadow. Forget about the butterfly title, you'd be a fairy. I like it, again the skirt is just so pretty.

Girls like wearing genie costumes since they’re often made with a lot of gauzy fabric and in pretty colors such as pale pink or mint green. Some genie costumes have longer tops or false flesh-colored panels across the stomach so that girls aren’t really exposing their midriffs.To complete , wear a pair of pointy shoes – or shoes with a little “puff” of fabric on them will do the trick. Secure hair into a high ponytail and tie with a scarf. Accessories can vary, but try big jewelry. Ideal makeup is false eyelashes and ruby or pink lipstick.

Jessie's halloween costume includes a cowboy or cowgirl jumpsuit. The actual shirt which matches the outfit is a full white shirt with yellow, red, and silver printed artwork around the collar and sleeves. Next there is a brown belt buckle with a bull imprint on the buckle that goes nicely with the shirt. The chaps in my opinion are very nicely designed with the Chic Fil A cow design and blue tint waist design. Lastly there is the infamous red hat.Some of the extras that can be bought together with the outfit are brown dingo boots or cowgirl boots with a 3 or 4 inch heel. The Lolita hairpiece is also another nice fashion accessory which can go with the Toy Story Jessie outfit for girls or females. It is a nice curly shoulder length wig that fits well with the red hat. Gypsy costume... Put on your skirt and your blouse. The blouse can either sit normally on your shoulders or you can push the neck down so that your shoulders are exposed. Wrap a shawl around your hips so that it drapes around your skirt in certain sections. You do not want to cover the whole of the skirt; just parts of it, such as one side of your hips.Add your vest and string the laces together at the front to cinch in your waist and bolster your bosoms. Style your hair. Wear your hair down, and curl the ends of it with a curling iron if you have naturally straight hair. If your hair is naturally curly or wavy, simply take a shower and let the hair dry on its own. Take your colorful silk scarf and wrap it around your head, exposing only the back of your flowing hair and a small section of hair near your forehead. You can add some curly tendrils to the sides of your head to keep some fringe. Gather your miniature bells and ribbon. The bells should have opening hoops where you can insert the ribbon. After you've laced the ribbon through all of the bells, simply tie the ribbon around your vest, knotting it at the back. You can use this technique with several different colored ribbons to create a more colorful look. Put on all of the jewelry you've gathered. This includes your gold-colored , your chunky bracelets and your long necklaces.Make yourself up by adding a good amount of liquid eyeliner around your eyelids, extending the line on the upper lid past the outer corners of the eyes. You can also add a dark red lipstick to the mouth and some rosy blush to your cheeks.Grab your tambourine and hit the town in your colorful gypsy costume. Hope I helped! !

Help! i need a costume idea?

i know this isnt the right section but im asking in the fashion section and the halloween section

so im going to this costume party but im beyond lost. i want something easy and simple that i could make around the house. i was thinking maybe a gypsy or an eskimo? i like the eskimo idea but i dont want to go to a party with a winter coat on. any other ideas? oh, and i was also thinking of going as a barbie but what would make me look barbie-ish? all ideas are welcome, kind answers, thank you all :)

The Gypsy is a great idea. You can get things to wear in the thrift shop. Full multicolor skirts, a colorful scarf on your head, big hoop earrings and those shiny necklaces made from plastic beads (party store).. Any colorful shirt and vest. You can wear a boot type shoe or a sandal if its warm enough. Pile on the make up too. You can joke and pretend to tell fortunes (be silly not serious as it scares some ppl).
Barbie I think would be hard unless you are a natural tall blonde . NO human female is built like Barbie so there you go. It would be hard it seems bcuz Barbie has different personalities. And outfits. THere is no just one Barbie look.
You are right about the Eskimo, why be uncomfortable?? I would go with the Gypsy and have fun.

Esmeralda/Gypsy ideas for ballet?

I will be performing as Esmeralda (a gypsy) soon in a ballet like performance (solo, so no interation with other performers), and I have my costume all planned out, and many ideas for choreography, but I am needing ideas as far as props. I already have a tambourine with ribbons, perhaps a ?? I've used scarves when portraying gypsies before, but I am just coming up blank.

Also, anyone know of any very spanish/gypsy sounding music which I may use to choreograph to? I have all the espanole varitions from Swan Lake, Coppelia, Don Quiote (Kitri), Nutcracker, and am trying to download the actual score to the ballet of Hunchback. Are there any other spanish solos/variations in ballets that I am missing, or just any good cd's with lots of flamenco-ish songs on them?

Carmen!!! duh! I am so embarrassed :-P
I am a retired professional ballet dancer, so was trained in a hodge-podge of character/ethnic dancing. I was going to be making it a mix of flamenco and belly dancing, due to the way her character is protrayed. Any time I've portrayed a gypsy in a ballet it's been a mix of the too with of course good spanish Sautes and nice grand battemements, the big showy stuff. This peice just requires a lot more character developement, props more than usual, and emotions besides the normal sultry

Opps, ran out of time, I'll check in on you guys later....note...it can't have modern words to it, it HAS to be orchestrated, ballet/flamenco type music, that is MUST for my preference.

Hi.. I'm an amateur choreographer. I suggest you try one of the themes from the Carmen suite by Bizet. They are very spanish and at the same time created by a French. This combines the spanish - gipsy music with the french that is Esmeralda with Notre Dame.... All clever and educated persons of the audience will acknowlege the combination... As an alternative try the music of the group B-Tribe ....

Gypsy costume: In my humble opinion, it's quite tacky looking (not in a slutty sense but the actual quality and colour of the fabric). Then again, my opinion could differ greatly from yours.

Jonah Hex Lilah costume: pretty cool looking, but I'd imagine a lot of people wouldn't know what you're dressed up as.

First SWAT costume: be wary that the costume only includes the hat, dress and belt - the stockings and boots aren't included. Other than that, I think that if you were to go for that look, it'd probably be very easy to recreate that costume yourself: embroider the word "SWAT" onto a small piece of rectangular black fabric and sew the fabric onto a slutty plain black dress or plain black long T-shirt, embroider "SWAT" onto a plain black hat (embroidering the words on isn't as difficult as it might sound and after Halloween is over, you can easily remove the stitches), get some fishnet stockings and black heeled boots (you probably own these or can borrow them from a friend) for the "slutty" effect and buy a few accessories (gun etc that you could get from the toys aisle in a shop) to go with it.

Maid costume: Again, be wary that the stockings and shoes are sold separately, if you already own stockings and shoes that would go with the costume that's not an issue but if you don't it could be if you're on a budget. Other than that, it's an OK costume - I've seen better maid costumes myself, but it's still good. If you're wearing stockings and not tights with it, I would highly recommend wearing hot pants - small enough that you can't see them when wearing the dress, but that also prevent accidentally flashing people.

Trophy Rack: I personally ain't a fan of this one, mainly because in the picture, you can't actually read the words "Trophy Rack" properly. Also an obvious point to note - you'd probably need a big rack to pull it off. Just sayin'.

Nautical costume: Love it. Again, you might need hot pants for modesty, and the stockings and shoes aren't included, other than that it's perfect.

Firefighter costume: Like the first SWAT costume, this is quite plain and relatively easy to make yourself with a few pieces of fabric, a black belt and a hat (which you could buy off the site separately or in the toy aisle in a shop).

Second SWAT costume: I think this one is better than the first SWAT costume. It wouldn't be as easy to recreate by yourself but it looks good, maybe get a toy gun to go with it?

Officer costume: Basically everything in this costume fits into two categories: 1. You either own it or can borrow it (i.e. The clothes), 2. You can buy it in a toy aisle (the accessories). I'd see it as a waste of money to buy this outfit, since you could probably make a better DIY version.

Pow-Wow costume: The fabric looks very tacky to me, I wouldn't go for it.

My favourite costuime here would have to be the nautical costume for sure. Other costume ideas that would be easy enough to DIY:

Cowgirl: flannel shirt - very tight fitting with either a deep V neck or the first few buttons undone for a slutty look, with a cowboy hat, jeans, brown belt, brown cowboy boots, maybe even a piece of rope tied into a lasso

Nerd: checkered shirt (again, if you want to go for a slutty nerd wear a tightly fitted one with a deep V or a few buttons undone), plain jumper over your shirt (optional), 3D glasses (the big black-framed ones) with the lenses taken out, hair in high pigtails, plain hairband, calculator, inhaler...you get the idea.

I don't want to be an item (such as a bag of jellybeans), but instead a person (such as sailor, gypsy, tinker bell, pirate etc.) Here is what i am looking for:

School appropriate
Nothing cliched.

Cute but not slutty is easy, just tone down. We love a girl who isn't a whore. Do sexy clown-
plaid pajama bottoms rolled up to mid calve, bright shoes/ socks. A fancy t shirt, and a thrift store vest. A neck tie is good too. The beauty of clownery is that you don't need any fixed pattern. The make up and hair are key. Either do plain, flat hair combed to the side or tight mini waves that frizz up the hair. Keep make up to a minimum. Colored lipstick a touch of paint on the tip of the nose, and heavy eye liner, no more. That is cute, and sexy, with out the slut factor. And best yet, you have the items at home.

I garuntee you no-one is going as a clown, and the guys will be looking at you.

What should I dress up as for Halloween?

I am a waitress at Outback Steakhouse and on Halloween, everyone dresses up. Since I haven't trick-or-treated in a couple years, It's not something I've been thinking about.

specs:
-No gore
-No masks
-Nothing that could fall off and/or potentially interfere with the sanitation of food (like straw if i was a scarecrow, for example)
-Nothing that interferes with my balance (like a long dress) because I carry big, heavy trays of food!
-Nothing that could offend a customer (like, dressing up as a Jehovah's Witness missionary)
-Nothing scary, like clowns with chainsaws

I can do a little sewing but I don't want anything expensive or time-intensive. I would also prefer to be modest and not show tons of skin. I would really love something that would amuse my clients, who are generally somewhere between the ages of 30 and 80 and just want their food.

I'm female, 5' 7", about 140 pounds (slender but not anorexic... remember my height), with brown hair that goes a little past my shoulders. I'm considering the following costume ideas:

-Pirate (stripy socks, a skirt and the big earring) (or a gypsy)
-Egyptian (I can sew a bedsheet up like a toga thingy and do the heavy makeup)
-Elf (I already have a brown cape, and I tried this cool trick once where you super-glue your ears into a point and it looks like you have pointy ears... it looks disturbingly real)
-A presidential candidate (with my own buttons! and a little speech)
-Something else....?

How do you do costume makeup for a gypsy?

Ok, here's the deal. I went out and bought myself a gypsy costume, but I have no idea what kind of hair, makeup, and accessories a gypsy would wear. Please help me! Pictures, websites, tutorials, and videos would all be totally awesome!
By the way, the skirt is a rich, velvety blue with a dark pink sash that has gold coins sewn to the bottom. The top is a white off-the-shoulder . Finally, is completed with a thick, black, 'leather' belt with gold embelishments.

Use purple and gold eye makeup and alot of eyeliner! Then do your lips a deep red color and wear cheezy gold hoop earings with a scarf around your head. Hey, it could work!=)Also try your local beauty supply store but don't try a halloween store because they are crazy expensive.

what should be my characters' costumes for the dance?

In my story, I am putting a masquerade ball on Halloween night. I have two main characters that are basically going to fall in love later in the story but i want it to be like a Cinderella moment.

My main character, Jasmine, she has dark skin (latina skin) and dark . I don't want her to dress like Cinderella or anything because that story is too old. She owns a crescent moon medallion that she never takes off.

My other character, Logan, he has light skin and dark black hair. He is a mysterious person but the sight of Jasmine makes his heart beat a lot.

Here are my choices:
Jasmine: a gypsy, greek goddess, or just a plain blue dress

Logan: Zorro, Aragron costume, pirate, or romeo

That's all i have. Pick one of them or tell me what you have in mind.

Just going off what you said... Have you thought about a moon goddess? It'd kinda be a play off her necklace. She could wear a silver dress or even blue, whichever you preferred. I think silver would contrast well w/her skin color... Or even a light shimmery blue. I'm not sure if you've seen the music video for Taylor Swift's "Teardrops on my Guitar", but in one scene, she has what looks like rhinestones along the side of her face to represent tears. Your character could do something like that to represent stars or even use star-shaped rhinestones. IF you plan on using masquerade masks, you could use a crescent shaped mask with glitter and stars, just to play off the sky-theme. As for him, I tend to see something along the lines of Romeo or Medieval costumes. It's just a great, classic masquerade look for guys. Best of luck with your story!!

Gypsy costume for Ren Fest?

I'm going to the Texas Renaissance Festival this weekend and I need some help with my costume! I have a white, off the shoulder blouse, with big poofy sleeves down to about my elbows, and then it opens up and hangs down. Black skirt with a purple one gathered over it. Black, blue, purple and green brocade corset and a sash with all those colors in it. I need hair, make-up, accent, name and any other accessories I may need.

I have olive toned skin and brown hair. Oh, my hair is kinda short too, it only goes down to where my neck meats my shoulders.

(btw, the shirt, skirt and corset were hand made.. If that helps anything.)

Your assemblage of clothing sounds amazing. Since your hair is in fact shorter, you could tie your sash around your head kind of like a nice gypsy headband. Typically speaking, short hair on a woman was unheard of during the Renaissance. Make-up wise, the darker and blacker, the better. Charcoal was all the rage as eyeshadow, so like I said, black is best. Accent-wise, you could either be British, French, or Romanian. Romanian would probably suit you best since you are going for a gypsy-type look, but British or French would both work well. For a name, really any name will do. Just pick a first name and say you are ________ of ________ and insert a city in whichever country you wish to hail from. I.E. - Kate of Kent (Kent being the south-eastern region of England).

Think peasant/broom skirts, vests, blouses that kinda come off your shoulder, those jingley things that wear, and lots of scarves.

thrift stores like goodwill are suprisingly awesome for this sort of costume, you can find so many peasant/broom skirts there. Plus you will always be able to find at least one ruffley old school looking top. I find one every time i go in there.

As for shoes, boots are gonna be what you want. If you can find some with some sort of dramatic buckle or cool buttons, then your set.

A hat isnt a must but they are fun.

Well, this year I wanna do soemthing good for halloween, we have our halloween dance tomorrow night. Here's some info: I'm 17, short in height, long brown hair, green eyes and a slim/athletic build. I'm looking for something cute, not slutty but not jeans or a long skirt either. I had the idea of being like a rock groupie or a gypsie, i just dunno how i should come about getting the costume ready. I'm heading to walmart tonight, so can anyone find out what to get? Little red riding hood would be easy to do with stuff from home. All you would need is a skirt (jean, red, white, black), a white shirt and then you could make a red cape with a hood from almost anything red. (table cloth, hoodie would work well, any red fabric) and wear cute black shoes and carry a little basket.

Whatever your parents do for work would be an easy costume. (construction worker, nurse, teacher, plummer...) Just wear their clothes, but maybe make them a little cuter by tying your dads shirt in the back to make it fir you better.

Do you have any younger siblings? They usually have things like swords, knives and other props that would help make a costume better.

Well, I do agree that you need to Google up gypsy--it's what I did for my pirate costume last year and it worked quite well in giving me ideas.

Ironically, this year I'm being a gypsy too. My tips:

-Wear large
-Long hair down and sort of raggedy
-White shirt, preferably long sleeve with big poof sleeves. If it's short sleeve, then poof sleeves are recommended all the same.
-Your pink skirt should be fine, but usually I prefer if it's some darker color, like dark green, blue, or purple so it can contrast with the lighter, brighter sashes I use
-Go to your local fabric store and check out the discount area. Get some random 1 yard fabrics of various colors, preferably solid colors. First decide whether you want to go bright or mellow and go from there. However, if you don't want to go out, then look around your house for a bunch of scarves and tie those around your waist
-Bangle bracelets
-Use some fabric to wrap your head in sort of a headband
-And yeah, lots of jewelry

My is sort of a more conservative costume with lots of random fabric tied around my waist and a big long black traveling cloak that I use every Halloween. Mainly because I hate showing any unnecessary skin, and also because it's usually quite chilly on Halloween night around here.

These are pictures of part of my pirate costume last year. The green and orange fabric, cloak, boots, and the head band idea is what I'm reusing this year.

I'd definitely go for the Alice in Wonderland costume.
It stands out a lot more than the others in my opinion and I think the way you look in general would make it look even more convincing and suit you to a tee.

Time for a change....(costume questions)?

So, my boyfriend and I, for the past 6 years have been attending our local renaissance fair, as well as costume parties dressed as pirates. The costumes are nice, leather and other material. All in all, I think we spent about $1600 on them (we pieced them together over the years). However, it's time for some change. The boyfriend got a black leather kilt and is switching into a "dark" celt type costume.

I'm not really sure that I want to coordinate with it, so I am asking for some opinions. I'm a pale blonde, so I like darker colors vs. light. My current costume consists of a black leather corset with a red celtic knot on the front and shoulders. A red under dress with a black skirt under the dress. I have a red and black leather hat with tons of feathers. So here are a few of my ideas for the next costume, just tell me which you like, or make a suggestion. Thanks in advance!

1.) Gypsy garb: Halter with cross lacings that criss cross over the back and stomach to tie around waiste. With long skirt, coin belt and ankle bells. Colors in black and red. (tribal style)

2:) Gypsy Garb - Black half corset (wears like a bra), with sheer dark purple under shirt that has split bell sleeves, a chiffon emerald green and dark purple over skirt with a black harem pants underneath. Hip scarf and ankle bells.

3.) Irish garb - a black bodice with a black split front skirt, with a white under dress
Just a tid bit. We are not going for acurracy when it comes to the period clothing. We save that for when we participate in the SCA and nailing your time period is key. The ren-faire in essence is fantasy. Make believe.

If you're going for historical accuracy, black is a color reserved for nobles. It was very expensive to dye fabric black in the Renaissance and only the very wealthy could afford it.

I'm a sucker for a corset, so of your options I'd say #2.
