Mark asks…

This LADY GAGA !!?

So. Yesterday i went to a halloween party, this girl was dressed up like lady gaga, she looked really good in that costume! Anyways i was sitting down on the couch, i was buzzed from drinking some vodka, my friend was like take a picture with my friend who is a drink gypsy! And she's like the drunk part i like but she didn't say anything nice about my halloween costume; she didn't say anything at all. Why are girls like that with other girls; seriousley? I compliment her but she doesn't say anything nice towards me.

Additional Details
I was the gypsy girl and she was lady gaga.

Whats the point of being a snob towards me if ive done nothing to her, i don't even know the girl? Its a matter of respect.
Is she jealous of me or just is vain! I know that being vain is a sign of insecurity.
Well i'm not a b*tch and so that doesn't define me with being naturally.

Most girls are huge bitches with big egos. Comes naturally.

Guys: What do yall think of a girl wearing this halloween costume?(pics included)?

http://www.buycostumes.com/Crystal-Ball-Gypsy-Teen-Costume/68864/ProductDetail.aspx

Be honest! I don't think i am gonna wear mine with tights though, because they are so annoying.. but tell me what you think.. i wanna surprise my boyfriend, so he cant know what my costume is until the night of the party!

andre1 answers:

Your choice looks really good!

Here's another thought: Surprise your boy friend by you picking out his costume for him. Tell him he's going, but won't know until that evening when he comes for you. You'll give it to him then. This way it will be a double surprise. Yeah, have him pay for his by giving you the money (in advance).

As for suggestions . . . The one I really like is the guy is an escaped convict. You can either be his girl friend (who helped him) OR his hostage. In the case of his hostage, he could play the part of guy who went in real young and has never even been on a date with a girl. You could act scared of him and other cool acting stuff.

As for his uniform, I'd recommend a two piece uniform -- either scrubs or denim -- along with slip-on sneakers. You can look at PX:Direct -- http://www.pxdirect.com for ideas or even to buy from them. Honestly, make the sneakers cheap and not expensive as inmates shouldn't have nice clothing!

As for yourself, you could be in really short shorts, t-shirt, sneakers, etc. Something that would make a boy friend or guy whose has been around girls before hot.

Anyway, its not something I've seen done, so it should be unique.

James asks…

do these sound cool to you?

I'm a teenage girl.
Gothic Angel

All answers appriciated. Thanks!
I have all the jewlery and make up needed for the look.

andre1 answers:

Well, all you need to go is cut the waist part out and you have a skirt and top. Use the fabric that you cut off and make it into a small hat.

andre1 answers:

Pants with puffy legs, shirt with puffy sleeves, bandana around the head and lots of jewelry

Chris asks…

Going to a tonight...help with gypsy make-up!?

I'm dressing up as a gypsy but a bit stuck on the make-up. I don't want to use too much black eyeliner because I'm fair skinned and blonde and that will look silly. Any suggestions for how to do my eyes and lips?

Thanks :)

andre1 answers:

If you can, just buy a cheap red dress somewhere, then add the gold at the top and some purple fabric where it's needed. If you've never made garments before, this could be a little but too difficult for a beginner. A good first try would be to make something called the infinity dress - it's very basic, and the fabric used for it (jet) is only $4/yard at Jo-Ann Fabrics. You would need about 3 yards of it. I will post the link for it. It can also be worn again and again.
Now, if you make that dress, you still need the purple around the waist. Just buy .5 of a yard of something purple, and attach it to a gold ribbon that you can tie around your waist. Voila! You should also wear a couple of gold necklaces. I do suggest making the skirt longer. Instead of cutting out a circle for the skirt, cut two pieces that are wide enough to fit around your body, and sew them together down the sides. Then attach the bands to that, and you can always cut it shorter if you want to wear it again. Feel free to message me with any questions!

Nancy asks…

How to make clip-on earrings more comfortable?

I bought a pair of clip-on earrings on ebay for my gypsy costume. Unfortunately, the clip is so tight, I can barely wear them for five minutes. Is there anything I can do to make them less pinchy? Any help is appreciated.

andre1 answers:

Stretch the backs with a pair of pliers,
or change the clips to looser ones

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
Halloween Costumes for a young girl.....?
In the PAST she has ALREADY dressed up as:
a flower child, Rainbow Brite, a fairy, , , , Punky Lil Pirate, and a Lil Red Devil.....
I know that it's a lil early to be worrying about this such thing but I am currently 8 months pregnant and my baby is due in early October. I have a 9 year old daughter and I was wondering if anyone could give me any costume ideas. Every site I go on I cannot seem to find anything appropriate for her age. She would have to have a size 14/16 or an XL in children's and there is never nothing in her size and the tween/teen costumes are so trashy looking. I just know that I will be so busy tending to a new baby that I wont have much free time to costume shop for her and this is why I am going to try to get this ordered asap. If anyone has any suggestions or websites please feel free to help me out. I just cannot get over how slutty looking all these costumes are turning into!!!!!!!!!!

    • ANSWER:
I know, right? When shopping for myself I couldn't believe the tween costumes either. Kids are growing up too fast.

You could always peruse a thrift store for ideas. If you found a black dress she liked, you could always get black lace and she could be a gothic bride. One of the cutest outfits I ever saw was a storm cloud. The child was covered in white balloons with silver tinsel attached at the bottom - and she carried a cardboard lightening bolt.

I'm not sure about ordering stuff online, I usually make my own costumes.

Gypsy Costume At Home

March 10, 2011

gypsy this was gypsy s halloween costume for last year my house looked ...

Thunder Bay, Ontario: A Tale of Two Cities

Once known as Fort William and Port Arthur, Thunder Bay united these two towns in 1970. Situated on Lake Superior and the Kaministiquia River it supports a population of 123,000. The city has become the melting pot to many cultures and nationalities: Scandinavian, French, English, First Nations, etc.

Thunder Bay and its environs boast many unique sites to visit. The views of Lake Superior and Sleeping Giant Provincial Park across the bay are breath taking from both Marina Park and Hillcrest Park.

Not to be missed is Fort William Historic Park on the South part of town. Even though not on the original site (presently the CN Railroad switching yards), the fort is a reconstruction of the Northwest Fur Company's distribution center and regional headquarters from 1803-1821. Consisting of forty-two reconstructed buildings, the fort demonstrates the wealth and power of this company at that time. Plan to spend a day there reliving 1815 with the many actors in historical costume. Visit the birch bark canoe builder, the cooper, blacksmith, tinsmith, tailor, carpenter, doctor, and the working farm with its variety of livestock. The re-enactors interact with each other and with the visitors.
Also in that area is Chippewa Park. This is located on the bay and has camping and other facilities. A small amusement park thrills children of all ages with a small roller coaster, carousal, tilt-awhirl, and other kiddy rides. Just down the road is a Wildlife Park with local animals as its focus: black bear, wolves, caribou, fox, lynx, and of course moose. Canada has the largest moose population of any country. Driving at night can be very hazardous to a person's body, if you meet one on the road.

Continuing South on Highway 61 you will come to the Founders' Museum and Pioneer Museum. This is a small gem of a museum with objects collected over the years. The museum is open during the summer months and the friendly staff wears period costumes. The museum also has old farming implements outside.

A little further is Thunder Oak Cheese Farm on Boundary Drive a mile from Highway 61. Owned and operated by a Dutch family, you can get your fill of Gouda Cheese in many different flavors: garlic, smoked, basil, etc.

West of the city on the Trans Canadian Highway is Kakabeka Falls; the second tallest one in Ontario Province, plunging 131 feet. Trails lead to the bottom of the falls and to the top. Think of the voyageurs of yesteryear carrying their packs as you climb around the falls. The Park offers camping and other amenities.

If you like amethysts, head Northeast of the city about thirty kilometers. There you will find open pit amethyst mines where you can dig for your own gems. The most advertised one is Panorama Mine, which charges an admission. A short distance further is Blue Points Mine at Road #5 North in Pearl, ON, where you can dig 'til you drop.

I you are still looking for adventure, you will find it a few kilometers further East down the highway. Ouimet Canyon Provincial Park and Eagle Canyon Park and Campgrounds offer beautiful views. Ouimet Canyon features plant life on the floor, which you would have to visit the Arctic Circle to view. The canyon extends for about two miles, is five hundred feet across and three hundred and fifty feet deep.. There is not any route to the bottom of the dry canyon to protect the fragile vegetation. Eagle Canyon, however, has two suspension bridges over its 200 feet plus deep canyon and a stairway that will take you to the floor of the canyon.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
If I'm gonna dress as a Gypsy, what should my boyfriend dress as? (Halloween)?
Ok well I bought this real cute :
    http://www.halloweenmart.com/media/core/LG83671_CRYSTAL_BALL_GYPSY.jpg

My boyfriend and I want to do a "couples" thing for Halloween but I don't know what would go good with my costume. I've tried looking for male Gypsy Costumes and they don't sell them anywhere. Can someone give me an example of what a male Gypsy would dress like? Maybe I can pull a costume together at home.

He doesn't HAVE to be a Gypsy so if anyone knows any good ideas that would at least go with the theme of my costume, let me know (:

    • ANSWER:
Downgraded pirate, (ruffle shirt, vest, baggy pants, skullcap), that could apss up as a gypsie) for oldtime gypsie.
Modernday, straight black pants with cloth as a belt, white shirt, black vest, black hat.

If you would like, you could go wench instead and boyfriend to go as a pirate, as wench does not differ much from a gypsie.

  2. QUESTION:
    gypsy costume's hairstyle??? please help?
i'm being a gypsy and i need a good hairstyle...all i own is a bunch of rubberbands and clips and accessories, but i dont have anything like gel or mousse or curling irons (for hairstyling tools all i have is terrible hairspray and a brush =P)

so what can I do? im trying to go for the on the move gypsy in a caravan kind of look...the kind thatll be dancing around a fire at night...

also i know what kind of bottom and accessories i am wearing but i dont know what to do for my top...any ideas which i can easily do by myself at home cuz i dont have time or money to go to any store to buy materials or a shirt so i got to use the stuff i have.

    all help appreciated!
and im sorry im not trying to offend anyone...and still not trying to be rude but people dress as nerds and cheerleaders and witches and ghosts and animals and firefighters and celebrities (just a list from the top of my head) and you can't be picky about offending all those different groups of people...otherwise there would be no halloween
    my hair is black

    • ANSWER:
I'm sure you have a bandana laying around, right? Just tie your hair down in it. Don't try putting your hair in a ponytail or anything, just take the bandana, wrap it around the top of your head and tie it at the back on top of your hair, at your neckline, then leave your hair loose. That's the best way I can think of. Good luck.

  3. QUESTION:
    , PLEASE HELP!!?
Hi, I'm a 13 year old girl and I need to get a halloween costume, NOT buy one though. I'm looking for a good costume that is easy to make using at-home materials or things that are very easy to find in stores everywhere. My back-up plan is a gypsy, because I was that lat year but i really dont want to repeat myself. I need something that I can wear to school, nothing revealing and something that is hopefully unique. I am in the drama department so crazy things are OK too.I need something that I can change out of easily, too because I have gym class that day. I also must be able to sit down inside of it....PLEASE HELP ME!!!

also Harujuku girl is a popular costume. or a Geisha
Ive worn formal military outfits with badges before ( with a short pleated skirt instead of pants)

Gypsy Costumes For Men

February 2, 2011

gypsy my costume for halloween this year minus the garish black wig

A short history of burlesque from 1840 to today

In the 1940s with the clear distinction and between the upper and lower classes, burlesque was a form of low level theatre with comedy sketches and dance routines that often parodied the upper classes and their forms of entertainment such as opera. The current take on burlesque, that of the striptease, or at least showing of more flesh than is seen on the streets didn't come to the theatres until the late 1800s.

Lydia Thompson, "music-hall darling" of the UK started a burlesque troupe called The British Blondes which caused a scandal in the UK and, in an era when all flesh had to be covered, sold plenty of tickets! The scandal of their costumes was that they wore flesh-coloured tights for the stage which gave the impression of naked flesh.

Lydia Thompson's troupe is credited for the development of burlesque in the US. The British Blondes arrived in New York in September 1868 to an eager audience. Their popularity, and the scandal, preceded them and burlesque in the US flourished. But it was not just about showing flesh, it was an evening's entertainment that featured comedy routines and song and dance as well as the titillating shows.

While England and the US were scandalised by tights, burlesque was huge in Paris in the late 1800s with the famous Folies Bergere and the Moulin Rouge which made so many showgirls famous and produced so many beautiful colourful can-can costumes.

I love this description of Paris at the time by Henry James: "a massive flower of national decadence, the biggest temple ever built to material joys and the lust of the eyes ..."

And the showgirls of the time really were famous, not just in an underground way. Minstinguett apparently spent time with Oscar Wilde and Jean Cocteau as well as being romantically linked to the King of Spain, and Prince Orloff of Russia.

Many of the burlesque stories of these showgirls are fabulous PR stories. Misstinguett, known as Miss, admitted that she was not a great beauty but that she generated the 'loveliest legs in the world' description herself.

1900 to 1930 were the golden years of burlesque in the US. But while burlesque was rising in popularity, the general public was still in the petticoated and buttoned up fashion of the time. But in the 1920s things started to change. Skirt hems were rising, showing first the ankle, then the calf and by 1930 they were nearly showing knees! In America, along with prohibition, they introduced laws restricting skirt lengths.

Meantime in Downtown New York the speakeasies were doing a roaring trade and the art of the striptease developed. They still had to be very careful not to show too much skin or be "bawdy" onstage but there was usually a huge difference between the touted shows and what happened when the police weren't present. The famous Minsky's theatre downtown is where burlesque got its real start and business was so brisk that Billy Minsky opened two more theatres uptown. He was responsible for promoting the career of Gypsy Rose Lee. On 12 February 1931, Gypsy Rose Lee made her debut on Broadway and was the biggest sensation burlesque had ever seen.

Then in the 1940s television brought the glamour to people's homes. Betty Grable, singer, dancer and the symbol of Second World War glamour starred in Pin Up Girl and the idea of the pin-up was born.

With the end of the Second World War however the live art of burlesque was back. The new acts' major influences were movies and stars such as Marilyn Monroe and Brigitte Bardot. The hourglass figure was firmly in fashion as was "big hair" and the corset. As with burlesquers before her, Marilyn Monroe was a "created" beauty and her fame is not attributed to her beauty alone but to her character, style and overt sexiness.

The 1950s burlesquers also created themselves with their own look, their own act and their own props. Their names as well as their acts were over the top - Rosita Royce had a fly-away bikini of trained pigeons as her trademark; Evangeline the Oyster Girl would appear from a giant shell and Lili St Cyr had a transparent bathtub made for her stage performances.

Burlesque is still alive and well today with big names and big personalities such as Dita Von Tees and Immodesty Blaize. It has also taken off amongst the general public. If you haven't been to a burlesque show I highly recommend it. There are plenty of clubs and venues that offer shows and the chance to dress up in a fabulous burlesque costume yourself.

  1. QUESTION:
When does a man lose his interest in a woman?
After my erotic sex-show involving my from a work-party and far too much champagne for my liking, I was stunned to find my dear husband Edgar persuing a sexual relationship with our maid Varulia on the rumpus room pool table.

Is this a sign that age has taken it's deathly toll on my once impeccable and insurmountable good looks?

  2. QUESTION:
What can you come up with for.....?
Halloween? We want to dress up at my office. There are 2 men and 8 women. We want to have group costumes, but have run out of ideas as we have been doing this for a number of years. Everyone here is always so creative! Help please!!

    Themes in the past:

    80's
    Witches and warlocks
    Flapper girls/Gangsters
    Gypsy's

Keep in mind this is at a bank, we can have fun, but it has to be tasteful.

    • ANSWER:
      PIRATES!
There's no shortage of cheap and/or good quality pirate costumes and pirates rule.

  3. QUESTION:
Looking for an old book title?
It is an older (15-20 years old) Harlequin or something like that book. It is a romance book. Set in a house by a small lake, a young lady or girl taken in by a gypsy name Esmeralda who I think dies and leaves the girl her old costume jewelry which turns out to be real. The lady rescues a large stray dog and somehow falls in love with a wealthy man. I have searched for this book for years - haven't seen it since high school. If anyone can help I would appreciate it. Thanks.

    • ANSWER:
here is the harlequin site which holds all of the novels written.

  4. QUESTION:
    , what should I do?
I am from an important, well-off family, married, with children. Recently doctors diagnosed me as suffering from mental illness, and besides usual things (medicines, counseling), prescribed me to be more social, attending public event and such like. My wife Isabeau decided then to organize a party for one of her employees, who was getting married. Everybody was invited, and it is to be a costume party. Only masked people, dressed in masquerade costumes, are allowed to attend. I thought about the matter, and decided that simple dominos, and all these pirates and gypsies are too common. I hit on a wonderful idea - to dress like a woodwose. You know, these savage men who live in the woods, hairy all over, with a club. I do not want to go on my own, and think about dressing five other friends in the same costume. I even designed it already: linen cloth sewn onto our bodies and soaked in resinous wax to hold a covering of frazzled hemp, so that we appear shaggy and hairy from head to foot. We are to chain ourselves to each other, and dance like this, and it will look good and be fun. Or maybe I should go for a more conventional dress? What should I do?

    • ANSWER:
You are so eccentric! I love the idea.... go for it.... as long as you feel comfortable and have a good time then who cares!

Do Justice This Halloween Using A Wonderful Justice League Costume

Based on super heroes from DC Comics the Justice League has been made up of quite a few super heroes over a long time. To find out who you wish to become let's take a brief look at the historical past of the league.

The League has continued genuinely popular since it commenced partly since it contains DC's most popular characters which includes Batman, Superman, Flash, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, the Martian Manhunter and Aquaman. There have already been quite a few superheroes that have already been added including; Red Tornado, Atom, Hawkman, Hawkgirl, Zatanna,Green Arrow, Black Canary and the Elongated Man additionally, the league itself has had several spin-off's for instance Justice League Europe, Justice League America, Justice League Task Force, Justice League Elite, Extreme Justice and Justice League International. It has appeared in comic books, animated cartoon series a live action TV series and a film that was even in the works until it got shelved in 2008.

At first the Justice League operated from a top secret cave just outside of the modest town of Happy harbor, Rhode Island. A teenager named Lucas "Snapper" Carr joined the missions, and he became both the team's mascot and an official member. Belly dance is sometimes called Middle Eastern dance or Arabic dance as it originated from the . Such traditional dance has evolved now, both in costume and dance style.

Since belly dance takes many different forms depending on country and region, there are also different types of belly dancing clothes. The most common belly dancing clothes is comprised of a fitted top or bra, a fitted hip belt, and a skirt or harem pants. Such belly dancing clothes is called "bedlah", which is Arabic for suit.

The bra and the belt are the foundation of belly dancing costumes. The fitted top or bra as well as the fitted hip belt are usually made with a fringe of beads or coins. Some are richly decorated with sequins, braid and embroidery. The hip belt is a broad piece of fabric. It may be sewn into a skirt or a separate piece worn low on the hips.

There are many variations for harem pants. The classic harem pants are full and gathered at the ankle. Harem pants are sometimes worn together with a sheer skirt. Skirts used in belly dancing are usually made of multiple layers of one color sheer fabric chiffon.

Belly dance costume designs are divided into styles. There are at least three popular styles of belly dancing clothes: Egyptian, Turkish and American.

Egyptian belly dancing clothes

Egyptian belly dancing clothes is comprised of a gown or skirt, a fringed bra, separate sleeves and veil. Often, a matching bra and belt set, that can be worn over a variety of different skirts, are used. Egyptian style may also include a long, figure-hugging lycra one-piece gown with strategically placed cut-outs filled in with sheer, flesh-colored fabric. A sheer body stocking may also be worn to cover the midsection.

Turkish belly dancing clothes

Turkish belly dancing clothes contain three or four pieces which include a bra and a two or three piece belt with a skirt and veil. The skirt may or may not be attached to the belt. Many Turkish belly dancing costumes reflect the playful, flirty style of Turkish belly dance. Some, especially the earlier Turkish belly dancing costumes include skirts designed to display both legs up to the hip, and plunging bras.

American belly dancing clothes

The American style of belly dancing clothes often comprised of an accessorized top or bra, which is usually decorated with coins and metalwork. They also include belt, harem pants or long skirt. Sheer harem pants or skirts are used rather than tight lycra. Sometimes, a veil is used. It may also include a fringed headband.

There are other belly dancing clothes such as the Lebanese type, the oriental and tribal belly dance clothes.

Lebanese belly dancing clothes is comprised of a sheer and skimpy skirt, bra and hip belt. A veil may also be worm.

There is also the oriental belly dancing clothes design that contains several pieces. This includes a bra and one-piece belt, a skirt, which may or may not be attached to the belt, and a veil.

Another variety is the tribal belly dance clothes which include elaborate headdresses and turbans, tribal jewellery, and layered skirts. Also an essential part is the exotic make-up and face decoration.

Belly dancing clothes are meant to stand out. These garments are meticulously crafted.

How To Accessorize Your Little Black Dress With Fashion Jewelry

There are many occasions to wear your favorite little black dress to. After all, it is the wardrobe staple that every woman should have. Here are 9 ways to wear jewelry with your black dress that will make you look appropriate for different occasions.

1. First date. Whether you are meeting him for the first time or being introduced to his family, you can look stunning in your black dress when you combine it with the right accessories. Match your dress with comfortable ballerina flats, stud earrings and a charm bracelet. Great for looking sweet and feminine - you will look beautiful without overdoing it.

2. Formal. For a formal event such as a wedding, long white gloves would look elegant, especially with a glittering diamond ring.

3. Work. It's not often you wear a little black dress to work but if you do, accessorize with little stud earrings, a jacket and pumps. Keep it simple.

4. Walking around town. A charm bracelet and simple drop earrings complete the look. After all, you want to be comfortable and not heavily accessorized when running errands, shopping or meeting friends.

5. Garden Party. Wear a scarf, and gypsy-style patterned wooden or resin bangles for a fun look.

6. The Opera. Class and chic is essential to this occasion. Petite silver jewelry is the way to go with as many sparkles as you can manage. If you can't splurge for diamonds, go with rhinestones, crystals or gemstones.

7. Cocktail party. This is a great occasion to try some statement jewelry - chunky necklaces, brooches and large earrings are great options to consider.

8. Dinner party. Perhaps a delicate gemstone necklace and stud earrings? If you are feeling more daring, don't hesitate to bring out the chandelier earrings.

9. Clubbing. It's time to let your hair down! Throw on some dangly chains and earrings and let them sway with the music.

Halloween Gypsy Costumes

January 17, 2011

Halloween 04 (1) | Flickr - Photo Sharing!

Gypsy Or Pirate Costume For Kids And Adults

One of my wife's favorite costumes as a was a gypsy, or fortune teller. Not only did she dress up as a gypsy for Halloween, but just as dress up playtime too. She says that she liked this kind of costume because it was mysterious and a little 'bad'. Hmmm... maybe I should see if she's still got that costume! I'll get my pirate costume out too!

From all outward appearances, a looks like a lot of work to create. But it's really pretty easy. I'll outline a couple ways to easily put together this costume below.

Back when we were kids, there just weren't a lot of costumes that they sold at the stores. Our parents had to make them, or we had to come up with them ourselves. There's a big part of me that misses this - it makes kids become a little more creative, and the times I spent with my Mom putting together a goofy costume stick in my memory as pretty great times. So putting together a gypsy costume should be a time that Mom spends with her daughtet. Even those really busy families can find all the necessary parts to put together a great gypsy costume.

So where do gypsy costumes and dress originate?

Gypsies came originally from the people who lived in Romania. They were called Roma or Romani and were comprised of nomadic tribes that wandered much of the European countries during the Middle Ages and often lived in caravans. Incredibly, there are still gypsies in the world today.

Originally, gypsies dressed very differently than the rest of the population. In the 1400's and 1500's, women dressed in a robe gathered at the neck. It was worn over a chemise gown. Generally, the women also wore a long cloth that fell down the back, then wrapped around the waist back up the front and tied at the shoulder. They often also wore a turban on their head.

Later, as the culture experienced and intermixed with other cultures and other peoples, they began to dress differently. The gypsies began dressing much like the peasants of the lands they traveled to. They began wearing laced vests and full flounced skirts. These were the fashions that the peasants wore during the Renaissance period.

Easy ways to make Gypsy costumes

So here is where it gets fun for Mom and daughter. To put together a gypsy or fortune teller costume you have to do a little bit of shopping around at the used clothing stores, and you'll have to dust off that sewing machine. The following suggestions can be tailored for either girls or boys, and can be made easily once you've gathered all the right parts.

First outfit - Women/Girl's Fortune Teller/Gypsy Costume

What you'll need:

A Long tired skirt in a vibrant color - preferrably one color, not a pattern.

The Seinfeld "Pirate Shirt" if you remember that famous episode - puffy sleeves gathered at the wrist

Bright front-laced vest

Black leotard stockings

Black shoes - not dress shoes, comfortable shoes

Colored sash for the waist - bright solid color or pattern

Matching bandana for hair

Large gold hoop earrings, colorful beaded necklaces and bangles for arms

Second outfit - Women/Girl's Fortune Teller/Gypsy Outfit

Long wide-flowing black skirt

White shirt like above

Black front-laced vest

Black leotard stockings

Black shoes

Bright apron or a shorter overskirt

Black wig with long, ringlets or curls

Colored wide headband

Large gold hoop earrings, colorful beaded necklaces and bangles for arms

Men or Boys Gypsy or Pirate Costume

Black or brown pants

Black boots

White pirate shirt (remember the 70's? You should have saved that shirt!)

Long black or brown vest. Trim this with gold-colored braiding using the sewing machine of a hot-glue gun.

Colorful scarf to use as a sash at the waist. I like red, but bright purple (royal color) or gold works well too.

Colorful bandana

One gold hoop earring. Unless you or your child has a pierced ear, shoot for a clip-on here.

Here's the important part here. Just let your imagination run wild. Mix and Match bright colors. Dress in plain whites and blacks for the shirts, pants and occasionally the skirts. Remember that gypsies were very poor and that bright fabrics were very expensive - certainly not like today. So most of what they wore were plain splashed with bright colors. Large bangles and earrings will fill out the outfit. Again, use your imagination.

    • ANSWER:
For makeup do it pretty dramatic and bold colors that go along with your costume. Than you could string little bells in your hair so that when you move your hair makes noise and it be little things of silver so it would look really pretty. I don't think a petticoat is a good idea since it might make it look too thick. If you get what I am saying. You could also put some glitter in your hair to make it pretty looking.
      Good LUck and Happy Halloween!!

  4. QUESTION:
Anyone know how to make a really good gypsy costume for Halloween ?

    • ANSWER:
well you could use things that you probably already have. my friend was a gypsy in jail for a haunted hayride we were part of, i was a crazy/innocent little girl =]
well her costume was a long flowy skirt, that happened to be pink, whatever color will work tho. also she had a um i guess you could call it a scarf and wrapped it around her like a belt but let some side hang down. she had a headband on and her hair all messed up, she used hairspray and w/e would make her hair stay like that, lol her hair actually looked good. she wore boots but that might just have been cuz it was cold. you could wear a solid colored shirt maybe torn up a bit and have huge bead necklaces
hope i helped, and have fun

  5. QUESTION:
Should I be the Queen of Hearts, Alice, or a Gypsy for Halloween? Any tips on accessories and makeup?
I know Halloween is a while away, but I've come down to three different Halloween costume choices:
    The Queen of Hearts
    http://www.partycity.com/product/tween+queen+of+hearts+costume.do

Alice (From Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland)
    http://www.partycity.com/product/adult+alice+costume+deluxe+-+tim+burton%27s+alice+in+wonderland.do?sortby=ourPicks&pp=60&size=all&navSet=178780

    or a Gypsy
    http://www.partycity.com/product/teen+girls+crystal+ball+gypsy+costume.do?sortby=ourPicks&pp=60&size=all&navSet=170274

I wasn't sure which to choose. I'm really leaning towards all three, so it's hard to choose just one. I figured if I was the Queen of Hearts I could use some red hair coloring that I have from last Halloween to put red streaks in my hair. I'm not sure about makeup and accessories for the costumes, so tips are appreciated. Thanks!

    • ANSWER:
Well, because Tim Burton's Alice movie came out last year, and the costume price is dollars, I would try it, but I think that other girls who are AIW fans with limited budgets will be thinking the same thing. Still, that dress could be worn for Easter and for school dances and weddings and etc., so I'd suggest Alice. If they are out of Alice costumes, go for the Queen of Hearts. That Gypsy costume will be there next year. Make sure if you get the Alice costume to try and get the wig too! Have fun!
