Sexy Halloween costumes for a fun night out can mean a variety of things from having a fun night out for just you girls, couples acting out and simply having a good time to being something different for one night a year. Now, when we think of Halloween Costumes, we think of only wearing them for one night - October 31st. Yet this is simply not true. Many not only put on their costumes for more than trick or treating, but for masquerade balls, holiday festivals and to simply role-play for the day.

Getting dressed up is not only about wearing a scary mask or haunted houses full of Witches, Mummies, Bats, and Skeletons but about having fun. Halloween is a celebration of All Hallow's day, All Saints Day and the Celtic Samhain all rolled into one night of revelry and fun. You can dress in your favorite Theatrical costumes, like vampires, a pirate, fairy, angel, and even a werewolf. Both men and women can have fun on this Holiday wearing fashions they never thought to wear. It doesn't matter if you choose a Sexy Halloween Costume or a silly one, you will have fun dressing up.

Sexy Costumes can allow a couple that has an attraction to each other to simply dress up in something they would normally not wear. It is not about being scandalous but about having fun. You can pretend you are a historical hero or heroine right out of the history books, or choose something more modern, like your favorite mascot. Many Halloween costumes are a way to mimic a supernatural creature, or someone seen on TV.

While at your costume or , you could bob for apples, have contest on which Costume is the best, Carve jack-o'-lanterns, go to a Bonfire and in some places like Ireland see Fireworks. It is not only about the sweets though that is a major part, it can also be another way to give gifts and have fun. Imagine you and your friends dressing as the same characters and not only be the bells of the ball but have a great laugh as well.

Halloween was originally called Samhain and was a Pagan Festival among the Celts of Ireland and Great Britain. This tradition spread to North America and Scottish immigrants brought their customs with them. Halloween is celebrated in many parts of the Western World and though the most common is the United States, places like Canada, Australia, Ireland and New Zealand celebrate it as well.

This time honored tradition of dressing up and having fun can be a trying time for some. The boom of online costume stores has changed this, however, and many can be bought worldwide. If you are worried that something does not fit, then you might like to know that there are charts and even customer service specialists to help you find just the right size and look.

These stores carry everything from 20s, 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s and the 80s clothing to Egyptian, Medieval & Renaissance, which are also great for the Renaissance Fairs popping up all around. They also have fairytale legends, military and uniforms, maids, and of course, the belly dancer as well. Belly dancing has become a popular exercise and what better way to show off all your hard work than with a sexy belly dancing costume.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
    for a young girl.....?
In the PAST she has ALREADY dressed up as:
a flower child, Rainbow Brite, a fairy, , , Gypsy Girl, Punky Lil Pirate, and a Lil Red Devil.....
I know that it's a lil early to be worrying about this such thing but I am currently 8 months pregnant and my baby is due in early October. I have a 9 year old daughter and I was wondering if anyone could give me any costume ideas. Every site I go on I cannot seem to find anything appropriate for her age. She would have to have a size 14/16 or an XL in children's and there is never nothing in her size and the tween/teen costumes are so trashy looking. I just know that I will be so busy tending to a new baby that I wont have much free time to costume shop for her and this is why I am going to try to get this ordered asap. If anyone has any suggestions or websites please feel free to help me out. I just cannot get over how slutty looking all these costumes are turning into!!!!!!!!!!

    • ANSWER:
I know, right? When shopping for myself I couldn't believe the tween costumes either. Kids are growing up too fast.

You could always peruse a thrift store for ideas. If you found a black dress she liked, you could always get black lace and she could be a gothic bride. One of the cutest outfits I ever saw was a storm cloud. The child was covered in white balloons with silver tinsel attached at the bottom - and she carried a cardboard lightening bolt.

I'm not sure about ordering stuff online, I usually make my own costumes.

Gypsy Costume For Kids

February 3, 2011

gypsy at drum jam | Flickr - Photo Sharing!

For Girls

Copyright 2006 MagicFairyRealm.com

Do you have a daughter that loves the color pink, lots of frills, or anything that glitters? Most little girls dream of being a beautiful princess, with a beautiful long, full flowing gown and a crown to match. There are so many different princesses to choose from today thanks to Disney, there is Cinderella, Belle, , Sleeping Beauty, Jasmine, Ariel and more. There is also the Barbie princess characters such as Rapunzel, Princess Anika from Barbie and the Magic of Pegasus, Princess Erika and Princess Anneliese from The Princess and the Pauper, and Odette from Swan Lake and what little girl wouldn't want to dress up as one of these lovely princesses for Halloween.

Also a desired costume among the young girls is Mystical Pixies, fairies and enchanting mermaids which seem to be quite the rage with all the new children's movies and books that are being put out on the market, two in particular being Barbie's Fairytopia and Barbie's Mermaidia. Well maybe this Halloween you can persuade her to choose a magical and dreamlike fairy costume. She can choose between several colorful and eye catching butterfly or fairy wings to go with a lovely fairy costume or a captivating fairy dress. She can also choose from a wonderful assortment of magical fairy wands to make her feel like she is in a fairytale.

Trying to help them select the right costume to ensure a happy Halloween can sometimes be difficult so don't forget all the categories there are to choose from such as Animal costumes like a horse, giraffe, cats, bears, rabbits, different kinds of bugs, a dragon, a penguin or a monkey. Classic costumes like a bubbly cheerleader, Little Red Riding Hood, a Pirate Beauty of the High Seas, Raggedy Anne, a friendly ghost, the graceful twirling ballerina, a courtly southern belle, the well made over geisha girl, a rootin' tootin' cowgirl or a comical clown. The famous TV and movie characters Daphne and Velma from Scooby Doo, Strawberry Shortcake and friends, Dora and Boots, Pebbles from the Flintstones, the stunning ogre Princess Fiona , Tinkerbelle, Angie from A Shark Tale, , a hip Pink Lady, Princess Leia or Padme and Queen Amidala.

Historical costumes are all time favorites like Cleopatra, a skillful Pocahontas, an Elizabethan Queen, the Statue of Liberty, a Greek Goddess of Beauty, a Colonial Girl, a festive Gypsy, or the mythical Medusa. And we could never forget the category that is most associated with Halloween when dressing up, all the scary and creepy costumes, an enchanted storybook witch, Zombie, skeleton bones, The Bride of Frankenstein, a Celestial sorceress, a chilling Vampire princess, a terrifying mummy and these are just a few that you may think are suitable for young girls. There are more categories such as cartoon or fairytale characters, Diva's, and western icons. These are just a few of the categories that young girls can choose from.

Girls can change their minds several times before finally deciding what they would like to be for Halloween. And some girls might even be interested in a superhero costume like Superwoman, Wonder Woman, one of the Power rangers, or Totally Spies. Halloween comes once a year and children really look forward to it. So looking at all the different options they have to choose from or making up something of their own is very important. This is so they will be comfortable, happy and excited to show off their costumes. And make it one Halloween to remember.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
    Halloween costume, 8th grade girl?
Okay, so I am an 8th grade girl. (Obviously, that's what the question said...)
This year, I am really excited because my best friend who lives about an hour away (I moved)
and I are going trick or treating this year with a bunch of my old (but not THAT close friends)
I don't know them as well, we kind of had a little tension back in the 5th grade.... I moved 2 years ago. So I haven't seen them in over 2 years (except for my best friend of course)
I have no idea what to be, and the time is running out, PLUS my mom will make it which will take longer (my mom loves making them and they are always so much better than store bought)
So I am kinda on a deadline.
I want it to be something that gives a good impression (not too little-girlish)
But it cannot be anything too slutty. My mom would not approve.
I wanted to be Dorothy (Wiizard of Oz if you did not know but most likley do)
but my mom and 9th grade sister said it would make me look immature and kid-like. (Well my sister, but it was implied with my mom)
The list of things I do NOT want to be:
Gypsy (I was that last year)
    Devil
Regular Witch (been that 3 times)
    Candy corn witch
    gothic
    punk
    princess
    50's girl
    Hippie
    flapper girl
    Fairy
I know this is specific... but I would prefer something were a get to wear a dress/skirt or something pretty...:)
And it can't be something that shows too much skin....

    Thank you so much!! :)
    Happy Halloween :)

Halloween Gypsy Costumes

January 17, 2011

Halloween 04 (1) | Flickr - Photo Sharing!

Gypsy Or Pirate Costume For Kids And Adults

One of my wife's favorite costumes as a was a gypsy, or fortune teller. Not only did she dress up as a gypsy for Halloween, but just as dress up playtime too. She says that she liked this kind of costume because it was mysterious and a little 'bad'. Hmmm... maybe I should see if she's still got that costume! I'll get my pirate costume out too!

From all outward appearances, a gypsy costume looks like a lot of work to create. But it's really pretty easy. I'll outline a couple ways to easily put together this costume below.

Back when we were kids, there just weren't a lot of costumes that they sold at the stores. Our parents had to make them, or we had to come up with them ourselves. There's a big part of me that misses this - it makes kids become a little more creative, and the times I spent with my Mom putting together a goofy costume stick in my memory as pretty great times. So putting together a gypsy costume should be a time that Mom spends with her daughtet. Even those really busy families can find all the necessary parts to put together a great gypsy costume.

So where do and dress originate?

Gypsies came originally from the people who lived in Romania. They were called Roma or Romani and were comprised of nomadic tribes that wandered much of the European countries during the Middle Ages and often lived in caravans. Incredibly, there are still gypsies in the world today.

Originally, gypsies dressed very differently than the rest of the population. In the 1400's and 1500's, women dressed in a robe gathered at the neck. It was worn over a chemise gown. Generally, the women also wore a long cloth that fell down the back, then wrapped around the waist back up the front and tied at the shoulder. They often also wore a turban on their head.

Later, as the culture experienced and intermixed with other cultures and other peoples, they began to dress differently. The gypsies began dressing much like the peasants of the lands they traveled to. They began wearing laced vests and full flounced skirts. These were the fashions that the peasants wore during the Renaissance period.

Easy ways to make Gypsy costumes

So here is where it gets fun for Mom and daughter. To put together a gypsy or fortune teller costume you have to do a little bit of shopping around at the used clothing stores, and you'll have to dust off that sewing machine. The following suggestions can be tailored for either girls or boys, and can be made easily once you've gathered all the right parts.

First outfit - Women/Girl's Fortune Teller/Gypsy Costume

What you'll need:

A Long tired skirt in a vibrant color - preferrably one color, not a pattern.

The Seinfeld "Pirate Shirt" if you remember that famous episode - puffy sleeves gathered at the wrist

Bright front-laced vest

Black leotard stockings

Black shoes - not dress shoes, comfortable shoes

Colored sash for the waist - bright solid color or pattern

Matching bandana for hair

Large gold hoop earrings, colorful beaded necklaces and bangles for arms

Second outfit - Women/Girl's Fortune Teller/Gypsy Outfit

Long wide-flowing black skirt

White shirt like above

Black front-laced vest

Black leotard stockings

Black shoes

Bright apron or a shorter overskirt

Black wig with long, ringlets or curls

Colored wide headband

Large gold hoop earrings, colorful beaded necklaces and bangles for arms

Men or Boys Gypsy or Pirate Costume

Black or brown pants

Black boots

White pirate shirt (remember the 70's? You should have saved that shirt!)

Long black or brown vest. Trim this with gold-colored braiding using the sewing machine of a hot-glue gun.

Colorful scarf to use as a sash at the waist. I like red, but bright purple (royal color) or gold works well too.

Colorful bandana

One gold hoop earring. Unless you or your child has a pierced ear, shoot for a clip-on here.

Here's the important part here. Just let your imagination run wild. Mix and Match bright colors. Dress in plain whites and blacks for the shirts, pants and occasionally the skirts. Remember that gypsies were very poor and that bright fabrics were very expensive - certainly not like today. So most of what they wore were plain splashed with bright colors. Large bangles and earrings will fill out the outfit. Again, use your imagination.

  2. QUESTION:
    gypsy halloween costume?
Hey. Im going to a halloween party and im going to be a gypsy. What accesories, shoes makeup should i get/wear? How should i do my hair? I have long brownish/black hair. Should i use glitter and such? And should i get a petticoat to wear under?

Heres what my costume looks like
    http://www.partycity.com/product/costumes+%26+accessories/women%27s/halloween+classics/gypsy+princess+costume+adult.do?search=basic&keyword=gypsy&sortby=priceAscend&page=1

    • ANSWER:
For makeup do it pretty dramatic and bold colors that go along with your costume. Than you could string little bells in your hair so that when you move your hair makes noise and it be little things of silver so it would look really pretty. I don't think a petticoat is a good idea since it might make it look too thick. If you get what I am saying. You could also put some glitter in your hair to make it pretty looking.
      Good LUck and Happy Halloween!!

  4. QUESTION:
Anyone know how to make a really good gypsy costume for Halloween ?

    • ANSWER:
well you could use things that you probably already have. my friend was a gypsy in jail for a haunted hayride we were part of, i was a crazy/innocent little girl =]
well her costume was a long flowy skirt, that happened to be pink, whatever color will work tho. also she had a um i guess you could call it a scarf and wrapped it around her like a belt but let some side hang down. she had a headband on and her hair all messed up, she used hairspray and w/e would make her hair stay like that, lol her hair actually looked good. she wore boots but that might just have been cuz it was cold. you could wear a solid colored shirt maybe torn up a bit and have huge bead necklaces
hope i helped, and have fun

  5. QUESTION:
Should I be the Queen of Hearts, Alice, or a Gypsy for Halloween? Any tips on accessories and makeup?
I know Halloween is a while away, but I've come down to three different Halloween costume choices:
    The Queen of Hearts
    http://www.partycity.com/product/tween+queen+of+hearts+costume.do

Alice (From Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland)
    http://www.partycity.com/product/adult+alice+costume+deluxe+-+tim+burton%27s+alice+in+wonderland.do?sortby=ourPicks&pp=60&size=all&navSet=178780

    or a Gypsy
    http://www.partycity.com/product/teen+girls+crystal+ball+gypsy+costume.do?sortby=ourPicks&pp=60&size=all&navSet=170274

I wasn't sure which to choose. I'm really leaning towards all three, so it's hard to choose just one. I figured if I was the Queen of Hearts I could use some red hair coloring that I have from last Halloween to put red streaks in my hair. I'm not sure about makeup and accessories for the costumes, so tips are appreciated. Thanks!

    • ANSWER:
Well, because Tim Burton's Alice movie came out last year, and the costume price is dollars, I would try it, but I think that other girls who are AIW fans with limited budgets will be thinking the same thing. Still, that dress could be worn for Easter and for school dances and weddings and etc., so I'd suggest Alice. If they are out of Alice costumes, go for the Queen of Hearts. That Gypsy costume will be there next year. Make sure if you get the Alice costume to try and get the wig too! Have fun!

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
What are some unique costume ideas for Renaissance Faire?
My theater group is going to a Renaissance Faire in a couple of weeks and the director insists that our costumes be realistic, which means no nymph costumes :( lol. So far I know we have the option to dress up as queens/princesses, pirates, gypsies, and Scotsmen. Can anyone help me find an idea for an alternative unique, but realistic, costume?

    • ANSWER:
You could choose a specific historical character or character from literature to make your costume unique. Anne Boleyn, Joan of Arc, Maid Marion or Lady Macbeth would all be really interesting choices.

  2. QUESTION:
What type of clothing would make a good ?
I'm dressing up as a gypsy for the Renaissance Faire and I have no idea what I should wear. (that rhymed lol) :)

    • ANSWER:
floaty skirt, peasant blouse, stuff with sequins and mirrors, scaves, dangly earrings and a headscarf

  3. QUESTION:
Help with what top to wear for a Gypsy Costume!!!?
I'm going to a renaissance faire tomorrow morning and while I'm going to look for my old white peasant top tomorrow morning, I need to know what I should wear instead if I can't find it. The only loose type of top I have is a grey, plain, very loose short sleeved shirt. Other than that, all I have is t-shirts or tank tops.......

    • ANSWER:
anything loose velvet or tie die could work
pair it with a maxi skirt
gypsys generally have loose flowing clothing perhaps you could wear a long cardigan with a suitable top?

  4. QUESTION:
Where can I find cheap Renaissance costumes?
Where can I find cheap, but good s? I know they are expensive, but anything that is cheaper. Or at least a semi cheap bodice. The clothes don't have to be all renaissance, but something medieval themed. They can be a peasant, gypsie or whatever outfit but I would prefer one that includes a nice dress (something like a princess outfit). This is for a renaissance fair... so something in that genre I would appreciate.

Or, do you have any ideas on how to build a cheap renaissance faire costume that is for a princess (nothing that shows the stomach because I heard you get made fun of if you dress like a witch or belly dancer or gypsy).

    Thank you!

    • ANSWER:
I have the same problem, heres how I fixed it.

      1. THRIFT - For the last 2 years, I've been thrifting most of my costumes. I ask friends if they have fake corsets (they were popular in the 90s?) and I search old stores to see if they have anything. I've found something without fail.

      2. Stores - They sell really cheaply made stuff. But the good part is, some of their costumes have nice, fake velvet under/over dresses that can be used to make a nice-looking princess dress.

      3. Dont be afraid to splurge - If you know you'll wear it for the next 4+ years, then spend the 0 on a really nice costume. Chances are, you'll be glad (like I was) because you'll wear it for years to come, and you can laugh at the people AT the faire spending 0 on the same thing.

Ebay is always a good one, I've also found great things at some of the websites listed.

      -
Also, where did you hear people get made fun of if they dress like a Gypsy or Bellydancer? Im apart of the Bellydancing group that does the Faire in my City, and no one EVER gets made fun of. They get hit on a lot by the cute men, though. ;)

Gypsy Costume For Girls

January 11, 2011

gypsy girl saw this girl everywhere cute costume

So where do gypsy costumes and dress originate? Easy ways to make Gypsy costumes So here is where it gets fun for Mom and daughter. To put together a gypsy or fortune teller costume you have to do a little bit of shopping around at the used clothing stores, and you'll have to dust off that sewing machine. The following suggestions can be tailored for either girls or boys, and can be made easily once you've gathered all the right parts. First outfit - Women/Girl's Fortune Teller/Gypsy Costume What you'll need: A Long tired skirt in a vibrant color - preferrably one color, not a pattern. The Seinfeld "Pirate Shirt" if you remember that famous episode - puffy sleeves gathered at the wrist Bright front-laced vest Black leotard stockings Black shoes - not dress shoes, comfortable shoes Colored sash for the waist - bright solid color or pattern Matching bandana for hair Large gold hoop earrings, colorful beaded necklaces and bangles for arms Second outfit - Women/Girl's Fortune Teller/Gypsy Outfit Long wide-flowing black skirt White shirt like above Black front-laced vest Black leotard stockings Black shoes Bright apron or a shorter overskirt Black wig with long, ringlets or curls Colored wide headband Large gold hoop earrings, colorful beaded necklaces and bangles for arms Men or Boys Gypsy or Pirate Costume Black or brown pants Black boots White pirate shirt (remember the 70's? You should have saved that shirt!) Long black or brown vest. Trim this with gold-colored braiding using the sewing machine of a hot-glue gun. Colorful scarf to use as a sash at the waist. I like red, but bright purple (royal color) or gold works well too. Colorful bandana One gold hoop earring.
