- PS, We are not trick or treating, we are going to a huge "party".

andre1 answers:

You might have to raid your mom's closet for this one. I would start off with a white, puffy blouse and find a chunky brown belt. Also, find a funky scarf to wrap around your waist like in the picture. To make younger, I think you should find short, cute "gypsy" like skirts. You could maybe wear your Uggs for shoes. For the final touch, big gold hoop earrings. If you can't find any of this at your hosue you can always go shopping at Target of Forever21. OR (sorry :) you could just get a bohemian blouse, jeans, and a funky scarf. That might be easiest. OR a dress. Have fun! :)

gypsy costume's hairstyle??? please help?

i'm being a gypsy and i need a good hairstyle...all i own is a bunch of rubberbands and clips and accessories, but i dont have anything like gel or mousse or curling irons (for hairstyling tools all i have is terrible hairspray and a brush =P)

so what can I do? im trying to go for the on the move gypsy in a caravan kind of look...the kind thatll be dancing around a fire at night...

also i know what kind of bottom and accessories i am wearing but i dont know what to do for my top...any ideas which i can easily do by myself at home cuz i dont have time or money to go to any store to buy materials or a shirt so i got to use the stuff i have.

all help appreciated!
and im sorry im not trying to offend anyone...and still not trying to be rude but people dress as nerds and cheerleaders and witches and ghosts and animals and firefighters and celebrities (just a list from the top of my head) and you can't be picky about offending all those different groups of people...otherwise there would be no halloween
my hair is black

andre1 answers:

I'm sure you have a bandana laying around, right? Just tie your hair down in it. Don't try putting your hair in a ponytail or anything, just take the bandana, wrap it around the top of your head and tie it at the back on top of your hair, at your neckline, then leave your hair loose. That's the best way I can think of. .

Anyone know how to make a really good for Halloween ?

andre1 answers:

Well you could use things that you probably already have. My friend was a gypsy in jail for a haunted hayride we were part of, i was a crazy/innocent little girl =]
well her costume was a long flowy skirt, that happened to be pink, whatever color will work tho. Also she had a um i guess you could call it a scarf and wrapped it around her like a belt but let some side hang down. She had a headband on and her hair all messed up, she used hairspray and w/e would make her hair stay like that, lol her hair actually looked good. She wore boots but that might just have been cuz it was cold. You could wear a solid colored shirt maybe torn up a bit and have huge bead necklaces
hope i helped, and have fun

7. Lace up boots.
8. Dark lips.
9. Dark eyes. (dark eyeshadow and heavy liner).

I need help with my Gypsy costume?

OK so this year I've decided to be a Gypsy, but the problem is I can't seem to find any costume that really suits my taste. I don't know if I should just buy a costume or make one, and if I make one what articles of clothing should I use? Can someone please give me some ideas or examples, pictures, anything. I want to be a cute Gypsy, but definitely not a slutty one and not a childish one. Kinda hard, but I'm sure it can be done. Thanks in advance!

How Can You Make A Homemade Gypsy Costume?

andre1 answers:

Sleeves that puff out, lots of layers for skirts. Skirts should be about mid calf to floor length. Bright colors but no neon and no bright red (not worn as they thought it brought bad luck) You can tie a fringed piece of triangular fabric over your skirt. Lots of gold jewelry, fake is fine, hoop earrings, you can sew some fake gold pieces onto the bottom of the skirt. Bracelets, anklets, necklaces, all gold colored if possible. Do NOT show your belly as that is from a completely different culture. You can also wear a vest.
Fabrics and patterns that don't match are GOOD, and don't be shy to add a few bits of fabric that nobles would have worn, such as a bit of velvet or gold ribbon. Try not to use printed fabrics for anything, this isn't period, you can use emroided if you can find it
For makeup, , red lipstick, but stay away from bright eyeshadows and stuff like that
have fun!

looking for a jeannie costume!?

hey everybody!!! ok so halloween is coming around and im look for a jeannie costume, (im 13 yrs old) and like all of them show ur belly and the pants u can just see through are there like any regular jeannie costumes!! ha ha but if nothing i was thinking of being jessie from toy story, or a gypsy....so any way thanks!!

andre1 answers:

Girls like wearing genie costumes since they’re often made with a lot of gauzy fabric and in pretty colors such as pale pink or mint green. Some genie costumes have longer tops or false flesh-colored panels across the stomach so that girls aren’t really exposing their midriffs. To complete the look, wear a pair of pointy shoes – or shoes with a little “puff” of fabric on them will do the trick. Secure hair into a high ponytail and tie with a scarf. Accessories can vary, but try big jewelry. Ideal makeup is false eyelashes and ruby or pink lipstick.

Jessie's halloween costume includes a cowboy or cowgirl jumpsuit. The actual shirt which matches the outfit is a full white shirt with yellow, red, and silver printed artwork around the collar and sleeves. Next there is a brown belt buckle with a bull imprint on the buckle that goes nicely with the shirt. The chaps in my opinion are very nicely designed with the Chic Fil A cow design and blue tint waist design. Lastly there is the infamous red hat. Some of the extras that can be bought together with the outfit are brown dingo boots or cowgirl boots with a 3 or 4 inch heel. The Lolita hairpiece is also another nice fashion accessory which can go with the Toy Story Jessie outfit for girls or females. It is a nice curly shoulder length wig that fits well with the red hat. Another accessory for women is mascara. There is a jet black professional glamour mascara that also goes with the women's costume.

Gypsy costume... Put on your skirt and your blouse. The blouse can either sit normally on your shoulders or you can push the neck down so that your shoulders are exposed. Wrap a shawl around your hips so that it drapes around your skirt in certain sections. You do not want to cover the whole of the skirt; just parts of it, such as one side of your hips.Add your vest and string the laces together at the front to cinch in your waist and bolster your bosoms. Style your hair. Wear your hair down, and curl the ends of it with a curling iron if you have naturally straight hair. If your hair is naturally curly or wavy, simply take a shower and let the hair dry on its own. Take your colorful silk scarf and wrap it around your head, exposing only the back of your flowing hair and a small section of hair near your forehead. You can add some curly tendrils to the sides of your head to keep some fringe. Gather your miniature bells and ribbon. The bells should have opening hoops where you can insert the ribbon. After you've laced the ribbon through all of the bells, simply tie the ribbon around your vest, knotting it at the back. You can use this technique with several different colored ribbons to create a more colorful look. Put on all of the jewelry you've gathered. This includes your gold-colored hoop earrings, your chunky bracelets and your long necklaces.Make yourself up by adding a good amount of liquid eyeliner around your eyelids, extending the line on the upper lid past the outer corners of the eyes. You can also add a dark red lipstick to the mouth and some rosy blush to your cheeks.Grab your tambourine and hit the town in your colorful gypsy costume. Hope I helped! !

Help! i need a costume idea?

i know this isnt the right section but im asking in the fashion section and the halloween section

so im going to this costume party but im beyond lost. i want something easy and simple that i could make around the house. i was thinking maybe a gypsy or an eskimo? i like the eskimo idea but i dont want to go to a party with a winter coat on. any other ideas? oh, and i was also thinking of going as a barbie but what would make me look barbie-ish? all ideas are welcome, kind answers, thank you all :)

andre1 answers:

The Gypsy is a great idea. You can get things to wear in the thrift shop. Full multicolor skirts, a colorful scarf on your head, earrings and those shiny necklaces made from plastic beads (party store).. Any colorful shirt and vest. You can wear a boot type shoe or a sandal if its warm enough. Pile on the make up too. You can joke and pretend to tell fortunes (be silly not serious as it scares some ppl).
Barbie I think would be hard unless you are a natural tall blonde . NO human female is built like Barbie so there you go. It would be hard it seems bcuz Barbie has different personalities. And outfits. THere is no just one Barbie look.
You are right about the Eskimo, why be uncomfortable?? I would go with the Gypsy and have fun.

Carol asks…

Halloween costumes for a 14 yr old girl?

I don't want to be an item (such as a bag of jellybeans), but instead a person (such as sailor, gypsy, tinker bell, pirate etc.) Here is what i am looking for:
NOT SLUTTY
I want to wear makeup with the costume
Girly-ish
School appropriate
Nothing cliched.
10 POINTS FOR BEST ANSWER!!

andre1 answers:

Cute but not slutty is easy, just tone down. We love a girl who isn't a whore. Do sexy clown-
plaid pajama bottoms rolled up to mid calve, bright shoes/ socks. A fancy t shirt, and a thrift store vest. A neck tie is good too. The beauty of clownery is that you don't need any fixed pattern. The make up and hair are key. Either do plain, flat hair combed to the side or tight mini waves that frizz up the hair. Keep make up to a minimum. Colored lipstick a touch of paint on the tip of the nose, and heavy eye liner, no more. That is cute, and sexy, with out the slut factor. And best yet, you have the items at home.

I garuntee you no-one is going as a clown, and the guys will be looking at you.

Betty asks…

Which costume for halloween do you like the best?

i keep changing my mind. lol. but my mom wants me to be something that we already have stuff for. by the way, i'm in 6th grade, with dark hair. soo should i be:

yellow tank
aqua blue loose top
red sequin scarf
black and white scarf around my waist
purple gem on my forehead
hair down with lots of curls
purple shiny headband

SCARY FAiRY;
black tutu
black leotard
black ballet flats
purple wings (sorry, its all i have!)
hair in a bun on the top of head
ripped black leggings
loads of glitter on my face
loads of eyeliner around my eyes
fake blood streaks below my eyes

SASSY PiRATE;
black gouchos or black skirt (what do you think?)
black ballet flats
white/black striped 3/4 sleeve top
red bandana around my head
eye patch with skull and gems on it
my hair really curly
one gold big
a sword (maybe, what do you think?)

SASSY WiTCH;
black mid-thigh flare-out skirt
ripped fishnet leggings
black witch hat
lots of makeup just to look cute
black ballet flats

James asks…

What should I dress up as for Halloween?

I am a waitress at Outback Steakhouse and on Halloween, everyone dresses up. Since I haven't trick-or-treated in a couple years, It's not something I've been thinking about.

specs:
-No gore
-No masks
-Nothing that could fall off and/or potentially interfere with the sanitation of food (like straw if i was a scarecrow, for example)
-Nothing that interferes with my balance (like a long dress) because I carry big, heavy trays of food!
-Nothing that could offend a customer (like, dressing up as a Jehovah's Witness missionary)
-Nothing scary, like clowns with chainsaws

I can do a little sewing but I don't want anything expensive or time-intensive. I would also prefer to be modest and not show tons of skin. I would really love something that would amuse my clients, who are generally somewhere between the ages of 30 and 80 and just want their food.

I'm female, 5' 7", about 140 pounds (slender but not anorexic... remember my height), with brown hair that goes a little past my shoulders. I'm considering the following costume ideas:

-Pirate (stripy socks, a skirt and the big earring) (or a gypsy)
-Egyptian (I can sew a bedsheet up like a toga thingy and do the heavy makeup)
-Elf (I already have a brown cape, and I tried this cool trick once where you super-glue your ears into a point and it looks like you have pointy ears... it looks disturbingly real)
-A presidential candidate (with my own buttons! and a little speech)
-Something else....?

andre1 answers:

You could be Belle from beauty and the beast. Since you have brown hair. And just wear long yellow shirt and pants or something.

You could be a nurse and wear nurse clothes( very Comfy)

Business person and wear suit

Lisa asks…

How do you do costume makeup for a gypsy?

Ok, here's the deal. I went out and bought myself a gypsy costume, but I have no idea what kind of hair, makeup, and accessories a gypsy would wear. Please ! Pictures, websites, tutorials, and videos would all be totally awesome!
By the way, the skirt is a rich, velvety blue with a dark pink sash that has gold coins sewn to the bottom. The top is a white off-the-shoulder peasant blouse. Finally, the look is completed with a thick, black, 'leather' belt with gold embelishments.

andre1 answers:

Use purple and gold eye makeup and alot of eyeliner! Then do your lips a deep red color and wear cheezy gold hoop earings with a scarf around your head. Hey, it could work!=)Also try your local beauty supply store but don't try a halloween store because they are crazy expensive.

George asks…

What are some unique costume ideas for ?

My theater group is going to a Renaissance Faire in a couple of weeks and the director insists that our costumes be realistic, which means no nymph costumes :( lol. So far I know we have the option to dress up as queens/princesses, pirates, gypsies, and Scotsmen. Can anyone find an idea for an alternative unique, but realistic, costume?

andre1 answers:

You could choose a specific historical character or character from literature to make your costume unique. Anne Boleyn, Joan of Arc, Maid Marion or Lady Macbeth would all be really interesting choices.

Costume ideas for a teenage girl?

Okay, so unlike in America, in my country we have a tradition to wear costumes on April Fools' Day. I am a 14 year old girl and I need ideas for a costume. I can't buy a costume because currently I can't afford it. But I probably can buy some accessories and a wig. I want to be something interesting and original. I am considering the idea of being a nerdy girl, or a hippie, or a 80's girl. Do you have any other ideas? I would really be great if you can help me. Also, I don't want to be a vampire, a ghost, a cat, a bunny or a gypsy (these costumes are very common). Thank you for your answers! :)

andre1 answers:

An 80's girl would be veyr cheap and easy. Wear bright leggings, a baggy off the shoulder colourful top, make your hair big, wear a big hair bow. Hoop earrings???
I went to an 80's party once and i wore pink stockings, a puffy white skirt/tutu thing, a white singlet, a purple fishnet top over the singlet and a big blue hair bow and a chunky blue beaded necklace. And green hoop earrings

Hippie would also be easy. Hippie dresses are in at the moment (or they were in recently) so you should be able to get a cheap on somewhere locally. Head scarves, flowers, peace signs, jewellry, etc.

Hope this helps :)

Susan asks…

Should I match my nail polish to my costume or lipstick?

I'm being a gypsy for Halloween. While the top is all blue, the skirt is made of blue and bright red scarves. While I was originally thinking of doing a true red lip stick, I ended up doing a darker/smokier look so I'm using a wine color lipstick. So, should I use a bright red nail polish to match the costume or a darker one to match the lipstick?

andre1 answers:

I think it would be much better to use a darker nail polish to match the lipstick -- added bonus, it'll be spookier for halloween -- also, it would really look good bringing your fingers (showcasing your nails) toward your lips as you sip a nice glass of wine --

Sandy asks…

do gypsy/romas wear corsets?

just wanted to know because i will be going to a renaissance festival, dressed as a gypsy.
wanted to know if they wore corsets, if so what kind?
any other costume tips appreciated! <3

andre1 answers:

Hi Julia,
the gypsies didn't wear corset in our country in old times.
The corset was in past time (17 -19 th century) a undergarment for mid and higher society and in country (villages) it was a part of upper folk dress.

What do you think of my gypsy costume?

I have a plain black peasant dress and a beautiful blue velvet shawl with sequence and beading on it. I was thinking I would wear those together and orange shiney bangle bracelets, a few necklaces, a Victorian poison ring, gold hoop earrings, black granny boots with a rose emboidered on the side, and a purple scarf in my hair. I can't wear make-up unfortunately my skin is too sensitive for it but I was thinking I would put some glitter lotion on my chest and face.

Do you think I am missing anything? It's like a gypsy/ I am putting together.

im doing a gypsy for halloween and i need some ideas on how to make it but it has to be homemade any ideas?

andre1 answers:

Use scarves over your head, wear big (rings, hoop earrings, and bangles), lots of eyeshadow and lipstick. Wear a full with lots of print and a belly shirt. If you don't have anything at home you can even get a lot of this stuff at the thrift stores

James asks…

Which do you like best?

I want to look really cute, but not sleezy (I am 5'2 so I'm not terribly worried about it being too short). I will be wearing my costume at a party... And around a guy I like and want very much to impress. I also work as a cashier in a grocery store and will be wearing this there on halloween with tights and a cardigan. I would like to order this tonight but am stuck... Thank you for your help!

Laura asks…

Do you think granny boots would look good with a gypsy costume?

I'm going to be a gypsy for Halloween but all I have that looks like it might go is a pair of black granny boots with a rose embroidered on the sides. The rest of the costume is a white gauzy corset top with a peasant skirt, and a blue velvet sequence shawl. I'm going to wear a scarf as a headband and a lot of bangle bracelets. What do you think?

andre1 answers:

No one is going to be looking at your feet.

Sharon asks…

from the past?

I know Halloween has just passed, but i'm board, so i thought i'd give it some thought.

I really love medieval stuff and pretty much anything from the past eras. This year i was a gypsy and loved it. I'd like something that is an uncommon costume, like i'm not doing pirate because everyone does that, and nothing slutty. Pics are great too. Thanks! :)

Charles asks…

Halloween Makeup Help?? (Gypsy)?

http://www.spirithalloween.com/product/gypsy-princess-adult-costume/

that's my costume :) please help!

and should i have my hair curly or straighten it?

andre1 answers:

Ok so this is what i would do.....

1. Make BIG I mean BIG bodacious curls.

2. Next, you would probably want a smokey eye since gypsy's wore their makeup THICK.

To Create A Smokey Eye

1. First, find a shear/glitter eyeshadow. (You can pretty much use any color you want whatever you choose will look fine just go more towards dark. Not so much bubble-gum pink or baby blue)

2. Next, apply the eyeshadow on your eyelid pretty dark. Add some more of the eyeshadow above where you applied it before making it look like it is gradually thinning out. This is really all you do eyeshadow wise. Oh and when you are done, you can add some glitter if you want.

Mascara

1. First, apply several coats of mascara on the upper lashes.

2. Apply some on the bottom, but not as much as you did on the top.

Eye Liner (optional)

1. Next, get , and apply it on your upper and lower lash line. By now, your smokey eye is complete.

Cheeks

1. Apply your favorite blush on the apples of cheeks. Voila! Your cheek makeup is now complete. Now wasn't that easy?

Lips

1. Add a fairly dark colored lipstick to your lips. (Don't try and go too risque with dark purples or black. Shoot towards maroon/red)

2. Apply sheer, glossy, clear lip gloss to your lips to complete this look.

You have now completed your face makeup for a gypsy!

Hope I helped!!

Daniel asks…

Costume Makeup?

I am going to dress up as a Gypsy for Halloween so I was thinking really dark eyes with heavy liner and red lipstick....Input or suggestions?

andre1 answers:

Extend the dark eyeliner past the end of your eyelid to give the effect of the "cat eye" look... And the eyeshadow could be neutral since your lip color will be so bold.

Betty asks…

Anything else I need for my Halloween costume?

Here's my costume:

http://www.halloweenexpress.com/gypsy-princess-adult-costume-p-18833.html

I am wearing a magenta corset over the bodice of the dress, I have gold , pantyhose, headscarf and shoes. Is there anything else that I need for the costume? Any makeup ideas?
I mean, for the outfit, I don't want to be carrying around any tarot cards or a or anything, I'm going to a party.

(P.S I know this is Halloween question, but that section is kinda dead, so I'm posting it in this section instead)

Thanks :)
@Wang Fong, I am doing well, thank you, how are you doing this morning?

Gypsy make up?

For Halloween tomorrow, and for spirit week at my school, its going to be Costume day. Hence the gypsy.
I have the costume all together, all the clothes. My shirt is black with embroidery, and a lime-ish green skirt. I also have this vest that has darker colors of the rainbow in it.

Any ideas for makeup?

Hair- curly, in big ringlets.
Bangles (silver or gold) for your wrist.
Losts of necklaces
dark liquid eyeliner, or kohl pencil.
Smokey browns on the eye,
and a nude lip.

Joseph asks…

costume designs of gypsy?

design that would be easy to sew, for medium built, color of cloth is orange, what would be the correct color combination. accessories, scarves to use

andre1 answers:

Standard gypsy costume tends to be (long full sleeves gathered at the wrist w lace cuff) under lace-up bodice (corset) with long full skirt. Then maybe a bandana on the head. You could also tie a long sash around your waist. And lots of jewelry, earrings, bracelets, necklaces. What goes w orange? Uh...purple, dark green, black, gold.
