I want to make a pretty costume this year and I'm aiming for a gypsy/harem girl/jasmine from aladdin theme. Are there any suggestion on how to create an outfit that would cover my stomach (transparency isn't acceptable sadly..)yet still look amazing???

What kinds of shoes would a wear?

I have a silver-gray belly dancer/gypsy costume I'm thinking of wearing for Halloween. It's a spaghetti-strap midriff top and baggy, low-rise pants in a pretty, Indian-style material. I know it doesn't sound right, but that's basically what it is.
Anyhow, I can't figure out what to wear for shoes. Flip-flops or other sandals look really stupid, so I'm at a loss for what to wear.

None. But because you are trick or treating go with a pair of those greek style sandals that are in right now. Makesure they have no extra designs, just a neutrtal color that goes with your outfit.

Gypsy/Fortune Teller costume?

I want it to be about or above the knee, but not one of those slutty costumes. I wanna try to make my own, but I want it to look like the ones in the stores. I would buy one from the stores, but on their websites they're are so many different kinds and it's too confusing.

Advice? I know layers and thrift stores, but anything else? If you could find one for under 50$ from a store that would be great, thanks

Is this halloween costume appropriate for a 15 year old?

I don't have a picture, sorry.

But it's a gypsy.
The whole stomach is out, but everything else is covered. Long skirt, the top covers my boobs well.

I feel like it's just sexy enough with the stomach being out, but not inappropriate.
My dad has other feelings about it...

My friend and I wanna be gypsies for halloween. We're thinking of long sleeved blouses that end at the waist, bangles, head scarves, hoops, funny nails, funny sandals and indian skirts. And lots of jewelled crap like rings and necklaces.

Anything you people would like to add to that? And how we should act?

I was one last year and for my hair I left my bangs down but put the rest up on a side pony tail then I bought this black shall with big sparckals all overit and raped it around my head once and left the rest hang off , then I had a a black courset over a white dress and the couset laced through it , but the bottom of the dress what like a tight white shirt with a flowing peace of black nett that matched the thing on my head ... Ne ways I know I am not the best at explaning but it was really nice and go for lotta makeup bright lpps and big earings! Hope I helped :) <3 rose1234

Well, this year I wanna do soemthing good for halloween, we have our halloween dance tomorrow night. Here's some info: I'm 17, short in height, long , green eyes and a slim/athletic build. I'm looking for something cute, not slutty but not jeans or a long skirt either. I had the idea of being like a rock groupie or a gypsie, i just dunno how i should come about getting the costume ready. I'm heading to walmart tonight, so can anyone help me find out what to get? would be easy to do with stuff from home. All you would need is a skirt (jean, red, white, black), a white shirt and then you could make a red cape with a hood from almost anything red. (table cloth, hoodie would work well, any red fabric) and wear cute black shoes and carry a little basket.

Whatever your parents do for work would be an easy costume. (construction worker, nurse, teacher, plummer...) Just wear their clothes, but maybe make them a little cuter by tying your dads shirt in the back to make it fir you better.

Do you have any younger siblings? They usually have things like swords, knives and other props that would help make a costume better.

I already know I have to wear a whole bunch of jewlery[gold earings, rings, etc.]

oh also keep in mind that im going to be wearing ths costume to school and i'm in 8th grade, so no belly shirts and stuff.

Well, I do agree that you need to Google up gypsy--it's what I did for my last year and it worked quite well in giving me ideas.

Ironically, this year I'm being a gypsy too. My tips:

-Wear large hoop earrings
-Long hair down and sort of raggedy
-White shirt, preferably long sleeve with big poof sleeves. If it's short sleeve, then poof sleeves are recommended all the same.
-Your pink skirt should be fine, but usually I prefer if it's some darker color, like dark green, blue, or purple so it can contrast with the lighter, brighter sashes I use
-Go to your local fabric store and check out the discount area. Get some random 1 yard fabrics of various colors, preferably solid colors. First decide whether you want to go bright or mellow and go from there. However, if you don't want to go out, then look around your house for a bunch of scarves and tie those around your waist
-Bangle bracelets
-Use some fabric to wrap your head in sort of a headband
-And yeah, lots of jewelry

My gypsy costume is sort of a more conservative costume with lots of random fabric tied around my waist and a big long black traveling cloak that I use every Halloween. Mainly because I hate showing any unnecessary skin, and also because it's usually quite chilly on Halloween night around here.

These are pictures of part of my pirate costume last year. The green and orange fabric, cloak, boots, and the head band idea is what I'm reusing this year.

Okay I need a good Idea for a costume plz help!?

so every year I wear this sparkly purple cape last year I was a vampire the year before a cartoon vampire pirate (don't ask) the year before that a gipsy the year before that a pirate and the year before that a witch and for every single one I wore this purple cape, I of course want to continue the tradition but I want to be a little more creative with this one. nothing so insane that it's immposssible or innappropriet but something fun that I can wear hiking around my neighborhood trick or treating with my friends. Plz give me some ideas so I can figure something out.

I'm a girl if my name says other wise and I'm 15 years old so we're not talking disney princesses......

You could be a gypsy thats what i was one year. I guess its kinda the same as pirate though. But it was fun i got a and a big white button down shirt and then a vest and a hat also i had a a lot of jewelery. Hope that helps!

Help with my halloween costume?!?

ok, so i have a plastic mask. There is green eyeshadow around the eyes and pink blush in the cheek area as well as red lipstick for the lips. the eyebrows are very black. i want to be something simple but original for halloween and i'm a teen girl. I was thinking alien or gypsy but gypsy isn't original and i don't know how to get the alien look and don't really like the idea. i will give best answer!

What would be a common "Stripper" outfit in the 50s?

I'm starring in my high school's production of "Gypsy" in a few weeks, and I've been assigned to find my own costume, after doing some research. A few of the other girls are doing such things as sailors, birds, flappers, etc, but I still need some inspiration. Could someone give me an idea as to what I should use for my costume? It can be as elaborate as necessary, but keep in mind it should be made of common household things, or items easily accessible. Also keep in mind it's directed towards an audience of PG13, so please nothing completely inappropriate(:

Common 1950's Burlesque costumes were very elaborate and layered (good for stripping off) so anything big and fancy. Feathers were very big. As well as anything encrusted in rhinestone and crystals. Try googling pictures of Gypsy Rose Lee.

This is kinda hard because costumes are now more sexy than anything... But how about being a victorian lady, or an indian princess? Its a little different than normal princesses... I personally like to get inspiration from movies and shows and books i like. Just put your own spin on it.

I'd definitely go for the Alice in Wonderland costume.
It stands out a lot more than the others in my opinion and I think the way you look in general would make it look even more convincing and suit you to a tee.

Time for a change....(costume questions)?

So, my boyfriend and I, for the past 6 years have been attending our local renaissance fair, as well as costume parties dressed as pirates. The costumes are nice, leather and other material. All in all, I think we spent about $1600 on them (we pieced them together over the years). However, it's time for some change. The boyfriend got a black leather kilt and is switching into a "dark" celt type costume.

I'm not really sure that I want to coordinate with it, so I am asking for some opinions. I'm a pale blonde, so I like darker colors vs. light. My current costume consists of a black leather corset with a red celtic knot on the front and shoulders. A red under dress with a black skirt under the dress. I have a red and black leather hat with tons of feathers. So here are a few of my ideas for the next costume, just tell me which you like, or make a suggestion. Thanks in advance!

1.) Gypsy garb: Halter with cross lacings that criss cross over the back and stomach to tie around waiste. With , coin belt and ankle bells. Colors in black and red. (tribal style)

2:) Gypsy Garb - Black half corset (wears like a bra), with sheer dark purple under shirt that has split bell sleeves, a chiffon emerald green and dark purple over skirt with a black harem pants underneath. Hip scarf and ankle bells.

3.) Irish garb - a black bodice with a black split front skirt, with a white under dress
Just a tid bit. We are not going for acurracy when it comes to the period clothing. We save that for when we participate in the SCA and nailing your time period is key. The ren-faire in essence is fantasy. Make believe.

If you're going for historical accuracy, black is a color reserved for nobles. It was very expensive to dye fabric black in the Renaissance and only the very wealthy could afford it.

I'm a sucker for a corset, so of your options I'd say #2.
