My Friends and I want to go to the next renaissance faire as armored warriors. Were looking for a way to make some really authentic armor but we came up dry with our web searches. Any help would be appreciated. We are looking for chest and back plates, Gauntlets, and leg armor, and possibly helmets. Help is greatly appreciated.

This site is a bit extensive, I got lost in it the first few times I looked at it and I was only looking at the herb pages...so I went straight to the page I think will help you most rather than giving you the homepage and letting you flounder through on your own. Hope this gives you some ideas. I don't know how to make authentic armor without hiring a blacksmith or armorer. But I've always wanted to go to a faire myself, though I'm sure my gown was easier to make than your armor will be. Check it out...

i need it for medieval faire. something not like sleeping beautyish but like somthing i can easily find. color or store suggestions adn picturers would be nice

You might get lucky at a thrift store or yard sale.

Another option is to see if a costume shop has any previously rented costuming that they are willing to sell. This store in Renton, WA does have some things that might work for you:

Last year I made a dress for a medieval night during summer, but I got really overheated. This year, I'm trying to figure out a way to make an acceptable costume that wouldn't be too upper-class for the period but would still be less stifling and crazy warm. Does anyone have any suggestions for alterations or anything? I used pattern 9891, variation C from Simplicity.

Well, I never used patterns per se--my graduate costuming courses taught me how to work without a pattern--

But the main thing is the material. And also the design, in that you will want to avoid too many layers.

You might want to look up medieval dress in books on history of costume or history of fashion, just to see what some of the options are. Also look at medieval art work, particularly the Tres Riche Heures of the Duc du Barry.

Once you've seen an outfit from those sources that you thing would look right on you, then you can scoot off to the fabric store to find patterns that resemble those pieces.

Now, natural materials will give you the better feel. Try light cottons for everything, especially the blouse. Linens and other natural fibers may also be used for the overgarments.

20% of your body heat escapes through the top of your head, so leave that uncovered--or use a very light fabric to cover if you must.

I am going to the renaissance faire this Saturday and I threw together a costume from goodwill, but I have no hat. What kind of hat should I wear and where can I find one? Don't say a Robin Hood hat, cuz thats like medieval, not renaissance

A hat with a feather in or a knight hat if you are a knight.
